Mac > PC? I doubt it. Dec. 28th, 2007 @ 04:12 PM Reply

Ok, I'm going to say it up front:
I DO NOT OWN A MAC, SO I CANNOT MAKE THIS JUDGEMENT COMPLETELY ACCURATELY.

Hopefully I dodged at least one flame there...

However, I do own both a PC and an iPod. I recorded how many times each crashed in a week, and here are my results:

iPod: 37 crashes
PC: 1 crash (ironically enough, it crashed when I tried to connect my iPod once)

Now, iPods are much simpler than computers, and yet mine crashes like crazy. Again, I've never had a Mac, but can I really trust Apple to make a computer when their iPod sucks?

Basically what I'm saying is:
STEVE JOBS IS NOT GOD. APPLE IS NOT THE BEST COMPANY EVER. SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Let the flame war begin :(

Then don't make the thread...

Also, you can't base it on crashes.

Also...

My dad owns a Mac, I've not had it crash on me yet.

My mum owns a PC, it crashes weekly.

What do you do to your iPod to make it crash that much? I have a 5.5 Generation video, and it has crashed maybe once, for the year or two that I have had it.

Your mum can't solve problems then. I have never had my computer crash aside from when I try to plug in my iPod occasionally and when I had a virus (which I successfully got rid of on my own, thanks). I hate Mac users who say a PC crashed just because they're too dumb to say "Oh, shit! Internet explorer's not working! Ctrl-Alt-Del... and end the program! Now I can try again!"

Nobody will read anything I have to say. Nobody will care what I have to say. My logical and thoughts will go unoticed and this thread will continue to be the pointless flame war it probably already is.

Macs are awesome for specific tasks. If you're an artists or a video producer or something of the sort, Macs have PCs beat hands down.

PCs are awesome for the average Joe because they can do everything good enough to get the job done without being over accelling at any one task the average joe doesn't need. Nobody who wants to just fuck around on the internet and play a few games here and there should invest in a Mac. It's harder to find software for them, support for them is difficult to come by, and lord knows where you have to go and how long it takes to get a mac fixed or upgraded. PCs are common place so software is easier to find and there is more support for them everywhere.

Your iPod crashing 37 times a week? I think that's something wrong with your iPod. I've had mine for about a year, and it hasn't crashed once.

Your mom doesn't have security software then. I don't know why people say Windows crashes so much. My system hasn't crashed in years.

Most decent software has a mac and pc version, and there's always an alternative software.

My experience with mac tech support has been great. One time last year I called applecare, was redirected to someone to talk to (an ENGLISH SPEAKING person), and he walked me through the issue and it was fixed in no time. A note to users, never force shutdown your computer during a software update (my bad).

And on my laptop the battery stopped working. I took it into the apple store at the mall, they turned it on, checked the serial number in their database, handed me a new battery and a receipt (for $0 cause it was under warranty), and I walked out with a nice fresh battery in about a half an hour.

Don't insult what you don't understand please.

My PC only crashes because the GFX card sucks so much, As long as i don't whack the settings up on my games, everything runs smoothly and happily.

I'm betting you're going to come back with the usual 'NO GAIMS LOL' argument.

I work with a Mac at work, and though there are many things about it that I like, it does freeze from time to time though doesn't have many programs on it. When it does freeze, I really dislike the fact that there's no "ctrl (apple) + alt + del" option. Sometimes, it seems to me that the mac programmers are so confident in their software, that they blatantly disregard simple functions like that because they assume that the computer will never crash.

Thats very inacuratte to compare how many times your iPod crashes compared to your computer for a number of reasons.

1. iPods are only made to last a few years so that you will have to buy one when the next model comes out.
2. iPods =/= computers. They are the same machine, DUH! It would be better if you actually compared a Mac to a PC. Just because iPods are made by the people who make Mac doesn't mean they are the same, as your thread title sugest.

Okay... So you are compairing a full hardrived multi functional computer to a minature music storage system...
Here is why macs are better than PCs...

- Unix command system..
- User friendly and compatible with nearly as many applications as the PC
- Higher quality hardware inside the mac
- Try getting a virus on a mac.. you cant.

Taaa daaaaaa!
