I've been thinking of a lot of ways that we can integrate more charity into the systems here on NG. For example, with some of the artist revenue systems we hope to launch in 2008, it would be cool if individual artists could earmark a % of their earnings to an NG charity fund, which could have specific objectives such as sponsoring the installation of a play pump. It would be great to be able to share pictures and video of the impact of OUR pump.

I've also been considering investing some NG money in socially responsible companies and green technologies chosen by the NG community. We would then spend the following year watching the results of those investments (picture a status graph on the front page somewhere) and at the end of the year that money would become our prize pot for a big contest or the annual awards. Maybe it would prove to have been a smart move, maybe not. I've already invested some of my own money in electric car technologies and so far haven't had much luck (gotta stay in for the long haul), but maybe as a group we can make smarter choices. Or maybe some day I'll get totally rich from my current investments and then I can bankroll NG and remove all the banner ads.

Tom you never cease to amaze me or confound me. From clubbing seals to becoming a man of charity! Wow! I hope that 2008 brings changes as great as these. Keep it man, keep it up . . .
That latter paragraph scared me though. Investing in electric cars might have been just a bit premature. No offense (I hope you don't catch it as such) but investing requires watching the news constantly and keeping tabs on all your investments like bees to a hive. Revisit, Revise, Refill. Thats how I like to think of investing. But on a general whole your idea is also a great example of how Newgrounds is maturing. Great news chap! Google will soon hit eight hundred dollars a share and split yet again! Should have invested in that XD. If you do happen to start investing I would definitely love to be somehow involved, (I am hoping to major as a Stock Broker in College) anywho nice news!

love the green investment idea, one of my personal favourite projects being researched, algae for energy. Esentially, they grow algae in a bag on a farm somewhere out in the middle of otherwise unusable land( I.E. a desert) and use it for energy! If I had cash, I would invest in that, gotta think about he future, what happens when oil runs out? Most of the electricity in the world(for electric cars, a popular solution to carbon dioxide) comes from oil and coal, and those wont last forever...

I'm proud to be part of not only a great community, but also one that works to help others share in the fortune of its members (I assume anyone with a computer and Flash has food and water in abundance). Once again, Mr. Fulp, you've shown that Newgrounds truly deserves the honor that comes with its hallowed name.
