Youtube file sizes

I edited a video im planning on puting on youtube. I cut the clips up and everything and when i conveted it to windows AVI. Its only about 1 minute long but its like 279 mb. Does anyone know how to get the file size down? I really want to upload it to youtube. Thanks

How?

Use whatever program you used to record the video. It should come with a compression tool.

Import it into Windows Movie Maker, and publish it, setting the size to 100 megs max... it will compress it.
