I'd guess 95% of Newgrounds visitors aren't regulars and are fairly mainstream Internet users. Hence anything that appeals to the mainstream will work for most people. The BBS regulars aren't necessarily representative of those that visit the site.

I hardly see any of NG's ads, and I don't even use ad block, just NoScript. The only ones that manage to filter through are those hentai ones on the submissions marked adults only. Interesting that the only ads that aren't (possibly) malicious are the hentai ones.
