Love Or Hate The Voting Sytem??

THIS HAS BEEN BUGGING ME FOR THE LONGEST.

I (in my opinion) think the voting system is.. umm.. a lil.. unbalanced. I've been observing lately.. When someone votes your song "0" it dramatically drops. But if someone votes it a "5" it increases by a little bit.

I need some feedback, from people that agree and disagree.

If you disagree with the "voting system being unbalanced" PLEASE explain what makes it fair in full details.

If you agree with me please tell me "experiences with the system" or "anything on your head that makes you come to the conclusion to claim the voting system is unbalanced".

Because I want to get to the bottom of this. =| I got these same haters downvoting my tracks, and i don't think it seems fair. (IN ADDITION) NG should add something to prevent someone from voting your music.

Do you think it should be "required" for you to "review" a song when you "vote" it?

Cuz (sry for the bad language) I hate seeing my songs being rated 0 without someone reviewing my track telling me all the reasons why this song deserved a 0.

Ahhh, there have been literally hundreds of these threads. Do a search for "zero voting" on the forum and you'll find your answer!

Well I am in support of either of these changes:

- compulsory reviews with votes, with the ability to report spam/abuse
- reduce to just 1 "thumbs-up" button, eliminating zerobombers, and only allowing users a certain number of thumbs up a day or something to cut down on cults

It depends on your voting power and the original score of the flash. If the zerovoter was like level 50 and you voted 5, what you said would indeed be the case. And 5ing a song with a score of 2.00 would have greater effect than 5ing a song with a score of 4.00. etc.

Anyway, the vote it's just a plus. Good reviews is what matters most.
So I don't really care about the voting system.

It's simple math, buddy. If you vote 5, then someone with the same XP votes 0, you'll never get it back up to the score you had before with a single vote. Or two votes. I suppose a million votes will get it back up to 4.99, but it'll never be 5 again.

thats really the only thing I have a problem with in the voting system. How come we get voting power baesd on votes directed towards flashes, but no points for voting on audio? I think everyone's voting power should be just equal then. But its all good.

Yeah, you hit it on the dot.. but another thing is.. they should make it so you can block a user from voting your music.. because either way you put it when you get downvoted.. noones going to sit there and search for your song in the 15th page.

They should at least show the users that vote your song anything lower than a 3.

The Chart system simulates the real world. Screw the audio portal lets reform the whole music community for a more equal system of music.

I don't think so. Flash authors don't get to block NG users from voting on their submissions; it's a user's right to be able to vote on content here -- it's part of the privilege of registering here.

I dislike being zero-bombed as much as anybody else, but I just don't think it makes sense to be able to block users from voting on your submissions -- Are you simply going to block everyone who gives a low score to your work? Who will remain but yourself? From that point you'll just end up fiving your material all the time.

No, they shouldn't. Voting is anonymous; that's typically how it works. If a voter wishes to reveal his or her identity, (s)he may do so, but otherwise there is a right to anonymity.

Personally I love it! Its gives unpopular artists nothngi while all the known ones are put up on a pedestal, and they still complain.
