Is that catching on where you live?
It's basically the idea of buying a couple of canvas bags and bringing them with you when you do the groceries and whatnot so you don't need to use more plastic bags.
It's a pretty good idea and they even pay for themselves in some grocery stores who give you a little discount ( like 20 cents or whatever ) whenever you use one instead of a plastic bag.
I got some and personnally I feel like I'm trick-or-treating when I shop with those. It feels weird but I see them around more and more.
Whatchoo think?

My fiance and I have been using them for about a year, we have like 10 of them of varying sizes and brands.
Case in point.
Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:
-The compliant mainstream media for their pro-Obama propaganda.
-Black Panthers for their intimidation of voters.

its not catching on at all- except for when Sainsbury's (a supermarket chain) gives them out for free. and, the only way it's gonna catch on, is of they give them out for free. The plastic bags have one good use is as bin bags. Maybe, they should do what they did in the 90s, and start charging them. I think in america, you get paper bags, thats much better then plastic. Those biodegradable ones are useless, they're so thin and light, that, well they just float... and, if you put anything heavier then 20 grams in them, they'll burst

Yeah but they're useless when you're on foot because they don't have handles so you can only carry like two and your hands are full. Even if they had handles, they'd probably rip the second you put a can in them.

Something I've been doing for the longest time, is telling the clerks not to bag most of my items. Little things, yes, but bread and jugs of milk or boxes of detergeant, No. That's a waste of a bag.
I'm so totally sure they hate you now.
WHY, WHY DO YOU ANNOY THEM WITH YOUR INSANE DEMANDS?

There's just something about forcing them to put the jug of milk in my hands as opposed to bagging it, then handing it to me..... It feels more powerful.
It feels like thieving :p

It started everywhere around here back in the summer. It seems like a good idea & at the grocery stores they only cost 99cents. IF it ever breaks a handle or tears they give you a new one for free.
I like useing the Presidents choice bags (grocery store) at the Sobey's store (a different grocery store) & vice versa. I find it amusing, like when I wore shorts on Thursday during a snow squall, the looks some people give you when they see you walking into a shop with your winter hat, gloves & coat but you've got shorts & sneakers on. I like that subtle shock factor as opposed to shaving half my head & dying what's left incandesent purple ;-)
But I have to say that I often forget to take any bags when I go out & a lot of times even when there in the truck I forget to bring them into the store.
