i know its late and all but i read a bout this in school and it pissed me off. so here is an essay i typed in langeage arts.
April 20 1999, Columbine high school, two kids "Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold" shot and killed 12 students and one teacher. Shortly afterwards the two boys committed joint suicide. This horrific event was blatantly blamed on violent video games. One game was especially blamed because of the boy's interest in it. The game was called Doom. I believe the press used Doom as the scapegoat to remove some of the pressure off of the school.
The press completely overlooked several key facts. Eric and Dylan were bullied relentlessly. They were both on the anti depressant, Zoloft which is a very addictive mind-controlling drug. They both had several mental conditions including: severe anger management, depression and paranoia. They had access to drugs, guns and materials to make several bombs. Do you honestly believe that these kids committed mass murder because of having a slight obsession with Doom?
Following this tragedy came many many more school shootings. A recent incident took place at Virginia Tech. A psychopath by the name of Cho brought two semi automatic pistols to his school and killed 31 people. Again, this incident was blamed on the fact that Cho played violent video games.
Doom is a game that takes place on Mars 10,000 years in the future. On Mars a gateway to hell is open. The main character has to kill all the demons spawning out of the portal. Really, doesn't that sound like a game that would influence mass murder of innocent people? Where does the blame really lie? Does the blame lie somewhere else? In the bullies, the school district, the drugs, their sick obsession with the movie Natural Born Killers, the parents, or is it something else?
Now after all I've told you about the columbine shooting,
Virginia tech, doom and Eric and Dylan. I must ask you one question, "is doom or any other violent video game connected to mass murder or school shootings?" the answer. NO! Video games are not related in any way to school shootings or mass murder!

Yeah violent media is not responsible for psychos going on rampages. Violence have occurred before video games, movies, T.V, radio etc.
I think its because they are fucked in the head, bullies make the situation way worse, and retarded parents/school staff for not seeing that they were having problems. Thats the main reason they went on a rampage I think. But the fact they they could easily access semi-automatic guns is the final nail in that coffin.
No semi-automatic weapons = rampage with knives or bows or some other less efficient weapon = SWAT come in and stop their arses.
People argue that guns don't kill people, people kill people with guns. Yeah thats true but if people can't access guns then they can't as easily kill people.

People were just looking for things to blame.
People shot and murderd people since the day we could do so, video games haven't even
nearly been around for a century yet. Some people just need to get thier head in the game and
notice what's going on.

What I have learned, any tragedy can be linked to anything.
Just so easy to blame video games, music, the media etc. Personally, I say video games don't kill people. because they don't. People kill people. If someone killed someone else becaues of videos, then there is obviously a deeper reason behind it.

They do, it's in censored version.

Your essay has some flaws, it needs a bit more Direct 'thesis' and evidence. I would break it down into
Paragraph 1 [Intro]
- Background [Check]
- Thesis [lacking]
- Explain that there are several 'key factors overlooked...' [Fairly check]
Body Paragraphs: [Any number]
You could do the following [Some of which you already did]
- Explain the nature of 'doom' and how there are plenty of regular [peaceful] individuals who play the games. Doing so would require evidence however
- Explain other fatctors dealing with killing [Check]
- Explain reasons why people might accuse video games of being 'the source'
- Think about any sort of argument that a person could pose against it
Conclusion
- Say something like 'There are many reasons why a person might beleive, or want to beleive that video games are the source of.... But these are often times scapegoats for more likely...'
On a moving train there are no centrists, only radicals and reactionaries.
