Wow. Just wow Tom.
Firstly, I love how you guys are giving out wacoms again. Sadly I bought my own a few years ago >=[ but nethertheless its great that you are giving aspiring animators a greater chance to have their own.
Secondly, the trophies look fan-frikken-tastic. I don't like the name of the tankmen nor the tankies. The few that I read that sounded cool were the Tankers and the Tanks. The Tankers sounded like a real award ceremony-ish name. Oscars-tankers, w/e.
Lastly nominations. Wow. FIVE SPOTS for one year. It makes perfect sense that it's so few due to the cost but imagine how little of the NG population you can really cover with 5 measly awards? Anyway, hopefully in the future there will be more.
My nominations:
Best Animation: Metropolis Circuit. I believe that rtil brought about a more stunning animation that Adam Philips (sorry Adam) and rtil has also been a great contributer of flash to NG.
Best Game (programming) : Now this is where it gets tough. I would go ahead and say Portal: The flash version quickly, but in reality, the programming for that game is a simple platformer engine with some (not very major) additions (eg physics engines for converting speed through portals and physics engine for the boxes). To truthfully say, I don't know of a SINGLE game that deserves this because programming is hard to compare in games, but if I had to, I would say Ragdoll Invaders deserves the programming award, the ragdoll physics, the movements, everything, is an incredibly complex and well made program.
Best Game (art) - Edward (so the award would go to Buzzwerd). The graphics were amazing, clean cut, fit perfectly in the game, looked neat and original. Truly deserving of a game-art prize.
Song of the Year- Oh I love this category, but once again a difficult choice. These are three of my nominations; no particular order.
-TT- in your face
Bounc3
Choz Fantasy (can't believe no one mentioned this yet)
Last one, leadership, has to go to Luis. If it does not go to Luis I do not know what you look for in a leader, because he certainly has everything that a leader should have. He provides great motivation, is very involved, and is also a funny mexican. How can you go wrong? But truthfully, if I see this prize awarded to a leader of the SS I will cry, because as you say, this award goes to people who make NG a better place, and besides host tons of collabs, all they've (mostly, cept for a few) done is add to the spam on NG. So to put it simply in AS terms,
<code>
if(NGPortal==NGPortal+SS_Spam){
NG--;
}
</code>
Hope that helped Tom, and that I didn't waste half an hour typing all this out for nothing :)
