4.09 / 5.00 15,161 ViewsI have a Engineering Mechanics final tomorrow morning that I'm not exactly prepared for. It's at 9:00 AM too, so the wake and study won't exactly get much done. I think I'm probably just gonna go to bed soon, because any work that I do won't stick in my brain. I need a 41% on the final to pass the course, but that is pretty unlikely after going over the review outline.
I suppose there's no such thing as a good reason for not being prepared for something like this. However, I figure the memorial service and related family events with the passing of my grandmother have probably contributed to my lack of studying.
Oh well. The feeling of dread that I'm carrying right now is unbelievable. I've never been this close to failing something this serious in my life. Who knows... Maybe the magical bell curve will save my soul. Anyone else have experience with failing university courses? I suppose I should get used to answering that question if this goes the way I think it will.
Nope, I'm actually going to start pre-reading all my course books. Good luck though.

Good luck with it, buddy.
Thanks... what I really need is another 2-3 days at the library. I'm posting here as a period of self-reflection.

I've been trying, and will return to eventually. I've heard a few people mention that it's useless though. Mainly teachers.

I've heard this about weed before... Unfortunately, I've quit smoking pot because I've started running competitively. Although a hit here and there can surely do no noticeable damage, it is much easier to decline both other people, and myself, by simply saying "I don't." than "Nah, not today".
My high school biology teacher mentioned some sort of response like this with alcohol. My friends and I had a plan to only teach me how to play snooker when I was completely trashed, in hopes that we could see if it actually worked. Too bad we never got around to it... maybe one day I'll come back to that.
OK WITH MY NEW PROGRAM YOU TOO CAN PASS YOUR TEST
1. get ashes
2. cut them into decent sized lines
3. get a straw
4. sniff that sweet sweet powder
Now your grandmother's energy will flow through your veins and you can pass your test!

Actuallly, studying at night helps you to remember things, so if you're going to fail, at least try in case it works.
Good luck anyhow.
Hmm Even though you have no time just try to study Even a little bit wil help if you can remember your teachings.
Sup Newgrounds ?
I'm totally gonna go study for another hour or so. I can sleep when I'm dead.
I'm not gonna snort/inhale/ingest my grandmother in any way to gain her knowledge though. What would she know about shear stress due to an applied moment?
Buy, or find a TI-83+ calculator and make a "program". Name it something unrelated, then start "coding" notes into it, examples of equations, ideas, reminders, anything that will help. you have nearly infinite space to save all the notes you want, and I'm guessing you wont get yelled at for using a calculator so try it out, i've done this before it's very usefull. It's just notes too so don't feel bad about cheating, some people are born with worse memory, it's more of a condition then something to do with level of intelligence, yet good memory is almost needed in today's school systems... shame on them.
Anyway, study up, make some notes and do your best, you'll pull off a high 5x at least. I thought I was gonna completely bomb a math test the other day, ended up with a 76 I believe. Don't give up until it's over, you worked your ass off up until now, and spent a lot of money, give it all you can from here on out and you'll get by.

I've been told by my school so many times, I'm pretty sure I can recite the line. "The ONLY calculator permitted during exams will be the Casio FX-991 or 991MS. No other calculator will be permitted for use during an exam. The calculator case must be placed underneath the desk before the start of the examination." It's not programmable :(
When they come around and check student cards/signatures to make sure you didn't swap places with an upper year, they check the calculator and case.

Yeah, thanks, I keep saying I'm about to go and study even more, but this time I really am :)
Just take a deep breath, and casually look at the answers of the person sitting next to you, that is unless they use the alternating test sheets, then all you can do is try to answer the questions as best as you can.
Really, try to remember the key concepts of what you think will be asked on the test. I couldn't tell you anything about engineering, but if you can remember a basic concept related to the question you can at least put something down. And as a last resort, you can try putting down any information you know that you think may be related as well.
I hope at least something I said helped, and if you can find one good thing about this, it's that you'll be done and have a whole month to relax and not think about school afterwards.
