My song's not a christmas cover and it's on the list. I'm preety sure it just needs to sound like christmas, so, yeah, a cover of a christmas song would be ok I would think, I doubt the judges would say no to that.

Chron, you can do whatever you like around here - did you forget? :D

Nobody said anything about popularity - it can be as obscure as you like - it can be completely original - it can be epic - it can be simple - it can completely suck - as long as you feel that it's a holiday-ish chiptune then it's right in line with the contest.

Holiday music is one thing... It's a good thing we didn't do a fairy-tale chiptune adventure... I have a feeling that you might submit something along the lines of a theme for "Goldiecox and the three bears" lol

Hey guys! I was doing some more VST browsing around the net and I came across this interesting bitcrusher effect. Check it out - you might find a use for it in this MAC.

Sorry to say this, but I agree. You people are going way overboard. USE STUFF OTHER THAN 5 CHANNELS OR YOU WILL ALL LOSE.

I don't care how hard you worked on it. It is ALL about the product.

Navi, I did, and now Darkside refuses to enter my piece in the competition/answer my PM. It seems that just because I strayed a little bit from the totally 8bit sound, I don't even get a chance in the competition (even though everyone knows I'm at least running up for close second behind Rucklo.)

I'm not going to give any opinions on the quality of anything, I do think that your song should be in the lineup, it sounds 8-bit enough for me.

The idea of a christmas chip tune was a bit weird if you ask me, how am i suppose to do christmas related sounds with 8-bit? Nothing christmasy about 8-bit so people are making well knowen christmas tune covers.

plus 99% of the VGM genres Chronamuts audio

Not really, that's why I'm reworking the song I wrote, duh? 'cause it definitely wasn't 8-bit, probably like, 23984723984897237bit, which is a...bit far from 8 I suppose.

I dunno if you noticed, but I DID use stuff other than 5 channels in my entry. It's called ORIGINALITY. Rucklo's song was focused on getting an original style sounding from 8-bit music, whereas my piece, as with most other pieces in the competition are focused on getting a christmas feel out of the 8-bit style, which is why I think that this competition should rely almost solely on the composition, in which Rucklo would still win outright, but for you guys to say that all of these tunes suck, that's pretty thoughtless. We're given a restricted sound, a restricted theme, yet there are a couple of decent ones. So, rather than saying "all other than Rucklo's song sucks", give a more constructive opinion so that maybe those who haven't entered yet can maybe get something good out of this comp.

After reading the forum so far im honestly scared to post my submission :( you harsh, hateful people.

Here it is

Jingrum N Baelss

It is a drum n bass 8 bit remix of jingle bells... suprisingly enough.

and you WILL hate it or santy claus will take photos of your kids then photoshop you into them.

into used in its most literal sense.

lol I just read the reference about 9% of the vg genre being my songs - It's true -I have done more 8-bit than anyone on this site - so everyone stop whining that you cant get good crap out of 8-bit sounds - if you truly believe that then you're simply not good enough of an 8-bit musician.

The ere literally thousands of 8-bit variations you could go for - you could go classic arcade, or amiga, or more updated modern 8-bit - you could even bitcrush an entire song as it seems that is accepted here. So suck it up and make some music.

Also your submission scares me Rucklo - its so sinister sounding...

True dat - no real excuses right?

Although - a word on bitcrushing. Bitcrushing an element or two is one thing - maybe the percussion might work out alright but we all know the sound and I'm thinking that most judges will take into account for that. I'm guessing that the closer to a chiptune the better. Submissions that are obviously just a crushed track probably won't do as well.

Only about three days left...

woh woh woh...hold on there. I'm sorry that I totally have a RL and a bit more important things to handle than to answer your pm's in an instant. I do refuse to enter your submission because it contains other synths and doesn't sound very much 8-bit at all...just because some 8-bit sounds are in there, doesn't mean it has a classical 8-bit feel. You want some 8-bit feel? Well, check this for example. That's 8-bit for me.

Anyways, ask LJCoffee or Rucklo if it's ok to enter. If one of them agrees than it's up within the next update, no problem.
