Yep, it's that time of year again. The time of year where people look for reasons to be offended.
Ten years ago, we could go around saying "Merry Christmas" and no one would bat an eye. Nowadays, however, people get offended because not everyone is a Christian. I have nothing against Jewish people, but if you don't celebrate Christmas, you could simply say "Happy Haunakha" (sp?). Or if you celebrate another religion, you could say "Happy Kwanza", "Happy Ramadon", or whatever, but let us celebrate Christmas without your parading about offensivness.
Merry Christmas, everyone.

Christmast pretty much lost its meaning as a reilgious event and it became more of a shopping season in my opinion. So it doesnt matter if you chirstian, muslim or hindu, christmas is understood as an oppotunity to get something for free and not feel bad about it.

I too am angry in all of the political correctness being put into the holidays. It is just the nature of the media and industry to complicate long-standing traditions, this often leads to conflict and even more-so segrigated events.
Because the christmas holiday has been so comercialised over the years, the event itself has taken fourth the media traditions and now appeals to everyone and not just a general audiance.
The issue isnt all with in the 'Happy Holidays' though - changes have also been put in place to excuse mistakes we have made; such as a skinny Santa Clause... Because mothers can't excuse their poor parenting, they have to blame Santa Clause for influencing them to eat poorly. If you don't want your kid to be obease, make him/her excersize, and controll their eating habbits.
And now woman activists are playing a role in these issues. They have now brought up a topic to eliminate Santa Clause from saying 'Hohoho' because they say it is too familiar to a slang term to demean woman.

I agree fully with this, why would anybody be offended by christmas it is a holiday of nothing but cheer and busy housework so when the family comes over they don't say your house is a mess even though the things yo clean no one notices in the first place. Also, just because a few people say something dosen'tmean we should change tradition for them. Is this not democracy, not whoever shouts the loudest or is the most radical ideas gets what they want-cracy.

All Im going to say on the subject is that I will point blank refuse to use either of the phrases "Happy holidays" or "seasons greetings".
Point being a massive percentage of the non religious population wake up on the 25th of December and open gifts they found under their tree.
Whilest it may not be the true definition of Christmas, its what theyre celebrating.
OI, PC brigade. Whats the 25th of December?
Why Christmas of course.
Then Merry Fucking Christmas.

I also think that not being allowed to wish people "Merry Christmas" is silly. All the big department stores, etc have signs saying "Happy Holidays," which is lame. If someone doesn't celebrate Christmas, I don't think he'll be horribly offended when I wish him a very merry Christmas, just like I wouldn't be offended if he wished me a happy Hannukah of Kwanzaa or whatever. Political correctness is incredibly overemphasized these days.

Have a very Merry Christmas everyone!
& I don't even believe Jesus, as represented in the Bible, was a real person.
Doesn't take away from the chance to see family & those you love & to have a good 'holiday' time .

Who the hell finds this stuff insulting? I'm an Atheist but I am fine with "Merry Christmas" or anybody expressing happiness towards a religious holiday. Hell on Diwali I drag myself to the Sikh temple for my mother, even though I don't believe in the same views. I mean I celebrate Christmas because some of my family do, who the hell makes such a big deal about this stuff?
You see the wine bottle? It WAS full!

The PC brigade seems to be out to ruin everyone's time. I honestly can't imagine a Jew or Muslim reacting negatively to someone saying "Merry Christmas".
This sort of thing creates far more problems than it solves. It causes tension between people. For instance, the staff banned from eating lunch at their desks "because it may offend fasting Muslims" may look negatively at the Muslims, even though it is not their fault. They are not asking for such decisions.
It is also insulting to them to be treated as though they cannot handle such phrases/actions. "Don't worry, we've banned all offensive phrases from being uttered. We also have some cotton wool to wrap you in so that you won't hurt yourself if you fall over."
