These threads are pathetic, full of people complaining about the mods based off their experiences in one forum at one time of day.
I don't have a problem with the forums, I don't have a problem with the mods.
If you don't like the BBS, if you dont like how strict/relaxed/whatever the rules are enforced.. find something else to do with your time on newgrounds.

If so many people wouldn't be breaking the rules so often, there would certainly be fewer bans.

I personally think that noob accounts(like alts and idiots who spam the bbs) to be banned on the spot. If any NGer wants to be on the BBS they sould respect its rules or not sign up at all. It would be very good if we did that (none of this 1-7 day banning bullshit) would be needed and the BBS would be much better. Picture it!! people making good threads that dont include MS paint, shitty photoshops,or the spaming alts (or noob spammers).Newgrounds would be a better place if these rules were in place.

That is all i have to say for now.

Apparently he's only been to forums that have about 10 people on them, total.

They don't get group spam attacks, they don't get idiots with multiple accounts spamming useless shit, they don't have much activity anyway so if anything DOES happen it can be taken care of a few hours later before anyone else notices it happened. And there won't be a thousand "OMFG WHAT IS GOING ON" threads like we get here when spamming/pointless bumping does occur that we ALSO have to deal with along with the groups of idiots spamming.

The admins on those forums are also usually more active on the forums, since that's all they have, they don't have a whole site with a flash portal, audio portal, and all sorts of things to deal with, so they can delete a bunch of useless spam alts if they ever WERE attacked.

I like how everyone is giving some input to moderate the forums and giving solutions. But does the mod squad ever talk amongst themselves about how to fix the problems at hand? How about the moderators discussing users that would make good moderators?

Just trying to throw some stuff out there.

I think that NG needs to swap it's mods out. If a mod doesn't do anything on the BBS for a while, they should get their privileges taken away and given to a user that stays on BBS.

These references to "Spam Attacks" intrigue me. Did the Clock Crew try to mass spam NG before? I know Sev7nStar (whatever) was deleted for shareing child pron (lol). I see tons of spammy shit so I'll go read it and wait for a mod to come lock it... *wait*... nothing! Why? The thread dies it's self and presents a lesson as to what is a good/bad topic.
The whole idea of changing the BBS systems scares me. I don't need some big ass change where people with no life can gain exp whereas only a few users could really take advantage of the hypothetical system to do any good. The Clock Crew, Star Syndicate, Lock Legion, L7C, KK and The Socom Squad all show that theres ways to get around any limits/rules. Even Wade Fulp made an alt to get around the 4 post limit.
Figureing out what is 'spammy' or not is always up to the person whos read it.
I like the current mod system beacuse it works. Grudge bannings only happen beacuse someone takes a ban seriously and resents the banning mod. If the same person kept coming to be being an immature asshole I'd instantly think less of anything he/she says so why can't it be that way for the mods?
Stop pissing of the mods and learn to read the rules = problem fixed.

I think that the "douchebag" posters of which you speak of is why we have so many mods in the first place. Most forums have 5, maybe 10 at the most, while we have like what, 40? Of course, it's also because the BBS is pretty big, but 3/4 of NG consists of douchebags who don't post with common sense.

I think that a good way to clean up the bbs would be to have some of the admins take some time to read topics and posts of people and see if they can change, remove or add certain rules that could help sort the bbs out

Actually, here's how we should do it, make it a rule that all fresh users must post in a certain topic before they can go out of that topic, if they do before they reach the minimum amount of post (500 maybe?) they will get banned for a day.

The only way to clean up the BBS is to not let kids on the website.

If it was only for people who were say in their 20s or higher, generally speaking, most of them would not find spamming racial slurs HIL-ARIOUS or creating alts to spam and damage the website.

Clock Crew isn't into that kind of thing.

It's small groups of users, most of which have alts, that all get on and post 4 useless spam threads with each account at the same time.

Then there are the idiots that decide to bump every thread they can find with a certain word in the title. So there are 20 threads that all have "penis" or "vagina" or "poop" or "cock" or something else, sometime even a random word like "chair."

And then since many users are just idiots, they'll make "OMG WHAT'S WITH THE _______ THREADS" and then post in each one of them, so not only do we have to delete the posts of the spammers that are bumping these useless threads with some copy/pasted useless text... But we have to delete the posts by the people responding to them, sometimes responding to the person bumping, or maybe to the thread itself despite the fact that it was considered spam in 2001, and still is. They just didn't check the post dates or realize that 20 other threads with a similar word were also on the front page.

So instead of just banning one user, and deleting all of his posts (which isn't that hard) we have to then delete all of these additional posts, and keep an eye on those threads so that they won't be bumped again by people that decided to respond, but have had the window open while we were deleting all of the new post trying to get them back off the front page.

This is why we need more than 5 or so mods.

No kidding. I'll admit it. I was 12 once and lacked incredible amounts of maturity. When I see pictures/videos/writings of myself from 10 years ago I want to kick myself in the face. But you can't explain that to a 12 year old, no sir.

Actually Joe, the real reason we need 40 mods, is because it's impossible to find 40 mature people who also lack enough of a life to spend all their time on the BBS.

If we could indeed find five people who had absolute no life, and yet still managed to maintain their maturity, we may in fact be set with the mods.

Most people who are mature though, actually have the opportunity to get off the computer and do something once in a while.

In short, the BBSes that KemCab and CapnCrunchDaPimp are talking about are filled with losers, which makes sense because they are on it.

Well, first we gotta define immaturity. Cock jokes, no, almost everyone here does it. Spamming the whole BBS with COCK over and over, yes. At least 75% of the BBS is good and clean, but there is many spam.
Now, at the age when your addicting to those MMORPG's, I joined this game called battleon. Everyone probably knows it cuz their ads are all over NG. So I did join there forums. And really, you wouldn't of expected 20 year olds there. Most likely 10-18 year olds on the forums. So I browse through there, and really, no immaturity. Most likely, what causes the immaturity is the atmosphere here on NG and how people can't handle it. It's not so much age, it's really how much you can restrain yourself from spamming.

NG is actually a real fun place, and besides the spam, it's awesome.
