As much as I'd love to continue the flame war and help one of the sides out, I'm going to ignore it and answer the question at hand.
I am Israeli and I can tell you this, we will never have a peace until either all of us or all of them are gone. I have immigrated from Israel 5 years ago and have had time to contemplate the situation outside of war and hate and that is my final conclusion:

The problem is that the Palestinians rally behind emotion and irrationality, much of what they do has no logic and does almost nothing but hurt innocents. Israel supplies food, medical facilities, electricity, gas, and everything else to the Palestinians, for example. Then Israel says, stop shooting rockets at Sderot and hitting our kindergartens or we will refuse to give you gas. And when a group chooses to fire rockets instead of helping their families survive... there is something wrong there.

On the Israeli side, the problem is also evident. Anyone remember last time there was almost peace? Our Prime Minister was killed by an ultra-right wing jew. That's right, we could no longer hold onto the moral high ground, we destroyed any possibility of peace we might have had. Israel had also done various operations that hurt civilian Palestinians (demolish their houses) as well as allowed towns to flourish in the West Bank knowing full well that it will raise the ire of the Palestinians.

Basically, I just scratched the surface of the problems, each side has much more idiocy associated with it. So believe what you will, I have no optimism for the State of Israel and for a Palestine, one will have to disappear.
