I want to hook up my guitar directly to my computer to record and play it, like a cable usb connection to the computer.
I can't remember the old topic that had the products but I remember seeing them before, so which ones should I get.

Some pedals have that USB thing you're talking about, But they can be über expensive.
If money is no object, Get ZOOM G2.1u pedal, Zillions of effects, and the USB thing.

If you check out radioshack, they usually have some kind of adapter... I know got an adapter that's wireless and transfers straight to my computer from Here for about $120.

Your first mistake was buying a guitar instead of a bass

if you're into recording, all you need is adapter that goes from your guitar jack-style plug, and goes into a Headphone Jack-style plug. you record from that straight onto Audacity or something like that. USB's better for Data transfer.

i use a jack converter.
converts the big guitar lead jack to a small (headphones stlye) jack.
then i plug that into the mic port and record from there.

There are more simple jacks than that. All you need is a tiny adapter which you plug an electric guitar cord into and then you plug it into one of the slots in the back.

That might help you.

The best thing to do is go guitar - fx pedal and then use a jack to mini jack lead into your computer.
Things get rather difficult without the pedal to help adjust the volume before it enters the PC. You'll end up setting the volume to 1 and getting a shitty tone.
