I attempted to make hardstyle today, or my own variation on it. Since I don't listen to it or even really like the genre that much I have no idea if this is good or not. It's just a beat and bass, no need to comment on the lack of synths :P Just wanted to know if it sounds good so far and if the transitions work at all.

just got sent to this thread. man, the NG forum system is weird! instead of most forums, where you make threads inside of a category, here on NG you just make a thread for the entire category, causing like 300 - 500 posts in a single thread!

whatever - I'm working on this track with someone from NG, but I forgot his NG username, so I'll just post it later.

Exactly. This thread might as well be locked, it's useless.

Im mainly worried about your first impressions listening, and if you think the mix is tight enough, compressed enough, and sounds good, nothing too far away or too in your face

All my latest songs just keep building and building...there's no leveling-off point. Any advice for this thing?

Ooh kinda experimental. Me likey. I'd say to continue it: right after that last little build up, go back into the ambience from the beginning... it doesn't have to be exactly like the beginning, but similar. Then after about 10 seconds of that, bust back into the cool bassy synth (that made up the meat of your song) but bring a harder, maybe faster beat. Maybe even spice up the synth sounds a little bit with more bass as well. Make it build a little more, and then end?

haha Hopefully you understand what I'm saying ;) Cheers, and let me know when you finish it!

Guys, I'm considering getting this thread locked, because it has turned into another audio advertisements thread. If the song is already up on NG, WIP or not, please don't link it here. This thread is for people who actually care about the music that goes up on the Newgrounds page, not for people who are willing to upload whatever they can shit out of FL in 2 minutes time.

Thanks for you understanding. If people continue to refuse to understand, I'll call in SBB/Rucklo/Rig and they can make this dead. However, I don't want it to come to that.

Drums feel overcompressed, as usual in your music. The snare needs to punch out from the hats more. Also louder.

Melodies are cool, but the synths don't fit. Generally, a distorted raw sawtooth doesn't work well with orchestral stuff... It's an interesting blend, though.

Might just be my speakers, but the bass/lowend is boosted to much. Blows out the rest of the frequencies.

Since I'm here,

http://spamtheweb.com/ul/upload/230509/6 3140_zorch.mp3

Its a piece of VG music. Zelda Theme /w a few other movements and whatnot. I'm running into a ton of problems with the drums/percussion. I've pretty much ended up in a standstill because I can't layout the drums correct at all :( Anyone got pointers on it?

I'm mostly kind of stuck what to do with the chorus/solo that I feel needs to come up. I'm not sure what kind of riff to lay down under it, etc etc.

So if you please, leave me some feedback.

Something I'm going to be working on quite lovingly; my first full length song that will have some serious effort put into it. Gonna be about 4-5 minutes long, and I'm looking to stick in a bit of breakcore-light in the middle (but still listenable).

Any comments right now are more than welcome, there's more info on the page itself :)

Cheers

It's nice. A bit too 8bit for my liking, when it comes to droney ambient, but it's good. I think the fast lead bit that comes in around 1:20 makes it, tbh. I was just getting bored before it kicked in.
If I were you I'd add in some more mellow sounds. Not so much saw waves. Just a personal opinion.

Now I've been listening to a lot of edIT's stuff lately. So I'd like some critique on this WIP, if you'd be so kind :)

Yeah edIT's stuff is wicked, as for your tune:
Add a bit of distortion on your snare/clap, and maybe reduce the bit-size of the sample using a bit-crusher to make it a bit more gritty

As for the bass-synth, add some distortion of sometype to it, and automate a lowpass filter with it - maybe?

Also add a bit of step to it by adding in silence at some points, eg silence after a snare hit then put everything at full noise back in ,say, 2 or 3 beats

Things get way too loud after a while and start to distort some. the Kicky reverb is nice but a little bit heavy. the Sylenth1 Presets I can here (even without the arp). Try to tone it down, you can always boost it up later on.

----
Intro I'm working on, can't think of what kind of synthe or other elements to add for the last 30 seconds of the clip.

Haha, yea those were Presets. I didnt think anyone used Sylenth so i just used them :P, guess i was wrong. :P

Yea the delay kick is pretty heavy, ill Eq it later.

Thanks for the response :D

----------------------------------

Your intro was so sexy. I loved the percs you usd and the bass was so sick.

Im really bad at judging time so i dont know what the last thirty seconds are cuz its quicktime but, i think it would be cool to have a resonating sine. That would like progress every time it plays.

For instance it would like:
C then couple second later C, C#, C then a couple second C, C#, C, C

Idk, just trying to return the favor :P

Hope ur song turns out well :D

The first thing I noticed was the track sounded a bit flat, work some EQ and increase the high pass. I think the snare drum could be better, it doesn't quite fit in with the rest of it. I'm digging the hats and clicks, they give it a more trance feel for sure. In the last 30 seconds, try fading in some strings with a sidechain on the kick. You could even fade in a lead and then cut the beat, but have the bass still going and have the lead play a melody over the top, if you want to go for more of a hardcore feel.
