Holy freaking crap I hope the Lost writers don't strike. Also, no new episodes of Colbert Report in weeks :(

Hummm..
A collab would actually be really cool to have done.
And YES, those of you who say that you don't give a crap about the screen writers guild, that they're just a bunch of greedy assholes that should sort out their own monetary problems, good luck finding anything good on TV anymore. I think you'll find yourself glued to your computer. -___-;

The very fact that they say there's no money to be had on the Internet is an insult to everyone who hears it, ESPECIALLY the writers, who come up with all the stuff they normally say. I guess the speechwriters must've gone on strike too.

Why are you people always striking. Go back to work. Isn't 100 thousand per year enough for you?
My heart bleeds with pennies for you.

truthfully, i hate the strike. i'd like to see something new. like a new Jay Leno joke... Thursday i thought they had a new episode. it was just Thanksgiving from 2006. the writers really need to go back to work, and consider what other people in the country are getting paid...

oh yeah they can always hire non union writers.

'Fraid not...only unionized writers can work in the industry...that's why some of the networks have started playing movies and such in place of recently abandoned shows...

The writer's are only asking for a quarter of a percent increase in royalty pay...this may be a good bit of money overall, and some of you may say that the writer's are greedy...but considering the absolutely inhuman amount of money the studios have shoved in their pockets, it seems only right to give the people who essentially make the show their just desserts...

A quarter of a percent...

As much as I'd like the strike to end, I would like to see the american public realize just how useless the studios are without their underpaid writers...one of the upcoming reality shows if the strike goes on long enough is called "Farmer Needs A Wife"...

"Farmer Needs A Wife"...

Support the writers...

That tina fey credit card commercial.

They reference the writers twice, first it's "Tina the writer's need you," and then, "Tina the writer's room is on fire."

We could just make the animations have to be ABOUT writers, not necessarily about the strike, and you could have a special preloader or link thing in each flash that would direct the viewer to some sort of info about the strike.

Yeah so, just flash about writer's in general, and their situation, and how they're treated as compared to producers/other people. Lots of that could be funny, at least I see lots of that stuff being funny.

But yeah that's my main idea, a special preloader. Some sort of contest to raise awareness beyond this news post too, might be a good idea.

That really sucks.
They FINALLY make an episode I actually get a "Wait...hahhahaha!" laugh out of, and now Seth is on strike. Still, I heard they already produced a few episodes after Lois Kills Stewie.

If you're brain's the size of a nugget, does that make you a chicken?

Man, I just shat my pants.

What needs to happen is that Hollywood needs to pay the writers for the profits they make on new media. The way I see it, it's no different than residual income that is due to the writers.

I'm one of those people who like new shows like the office, and Colbert Report.

I say ether give them the money they want (somehow), or the strikers just be happy with what you got

Why would anyone here NOT back the writers' decision to strike?? Just so you can glue your face to the TV for the newest episode of the "Who Gives a Shit" show? I say stick it to the man whenever you can. Normally the politics of business is the politics of pussies. When someone stands up like this and flies the finger in the face of the guys raking in all the profits it is one of the rare moments that balls are actually showcased in the business world.

You Guys think its bad for the SAG? try being an Author between the government and the dam publishing companies not giveing any respect for thoughs who are in the arts i mean serriously. also did you know authors only have a limited ammount of time they can cash in on there published intelectual property through some contracts, in all honesty its highway robery at its finest! i hope this strike teaches not just hollywood but everyone a lession that all because writers are unknown relatively dosent mean they shouldent be respected or even well payed for there work!
(BTW. i am an author on a part time basis i suport the strike ten fold)

I may not agree with what you say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it

I've been talking to Xeneri recently about the Writers Guild Strike and what we can do to show our support. Xeneri is part of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and has been picketing with the writers in Hollywood to show her support.

I thought it was the Film Actors Guild (FAG) ever since I saw that team america:world police movie.

To quote Xeneri: "What does this have to do with Newgrounds or flash? Nothing right now - this strike is about dvd, video and download sales. But it will eventually - especially if any of you hope to work professionally in animation or in computer gaming. Because in essence, this strike is about writers and artists being paid and given proper credit for their work. Right now, its about tv and film writers (that DOES include animation writers btw), but eventually, the corporations will try the same with writers of games, etc."
Does anyone have any thoughts on how we can best show our support to the writers?

No.

besides I just realized this, why don't you have anything in your sig?
