Seriously....If a black person is in Europe, they are an African American. If a black person is in Australia, they are an African american. What the hell is up with that. If they were born in Europe they are European.
If they were born in Australia, they are Australian. And if they were born in America they are American.
I mean, my mom's Brazillian, but do you see people calling me a Brazillian American.

I find it to be quite a patronising term.

What I mean is, there are some black people in the US who have lived there as long as the white people, although they were their slaves. Now, I admit that originally all black people came from Africa, but no white people came from North America. So why aren't white Americans called European-Americans?

I think it's all a bit stupid, and they should just be called black and white. Also, I think calling someone brown should also be less Un-PC, as people tend to group them in the 'Asian' category, which also includes Orientals who are definitely not brown.

I live in Europe, and I've never encountered an African-American. We just call them black, or African, or Jamaican, or whatever.
