To be honest, this looks like nothing more than a sales ploy. The picture is pretty macabre looking anyway, what with the hands and that, but if you look at the very bottom pic, it looks a hell of a lot like someone shining a red light onto it, you can even see the red light reflected slightly.
It says the bottom pics make it look like a gun, and at a cursory glance, they do. But look carefully and you'll see it's the poor lighting that makes parts hard to see, and that the picture is no different.
A very interesting page, all the same. And the painting does have an eerie quality as it is.
