It could work, but not the way you have described it. If this topic were kept clean and everyone abided by the rules, a free topic could work. maybe.

some topics pick up lives of their own and meander well off topic, so declaring that intent right at the start is interesting. encouraging people to post porn is not interesting.
Now for a joke. one time I saw a bad topic and rather than write something smart or intelligent or ignoring the topic or trying to make the topic into something better by steering the conversation into a better direction I simply wrote:
