Honestly, considering it's an obvious rip-off and the games are (for the most part) boring I can easily say PC gaming blows.
It's expensive. To actually run your games at a higher resolution than a console, you'll fork out thousands. Look at Crysis, one of the most anticipated first person shooters. To run it on recommended settings you need:
Processor - Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz
Memory - 2GB RAM
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar
You may meet the first two requirements if you bought a computer recently, but the graphic card is a sizzling 400 bucks alone. Golly, that's a whole Xbox 360 or PS3. A PC from Dell will cost you 2639 dollars, nearly 2800 with the game and taxes. Fuck, that's a 360 or PS3 with 40 games! And a Wii with 51 games!
Seriously guys is it really worth having an extra 3 pixels for every square inch resolution? Especially if it can hit the $3000 mark?
As for the games, yeah you gotta few gems like SimCity, DEFCON, Civilization, or Myst. But ultimately, most are just Command and Conquer, Doom, and Diablo rip-offs. If you've played any RTS, FPS, or MMORPG and your PC, you're played them all. The same shit happens in all these genres:
RTS: Build structures to produce units. Build units to defend base. Build more units and storm the enemies base.
FPS: Shoot, shoot, throw a grenade, shoot some more. Than sit back for a few cut-scenes and wonder why the character is a fucking mute.
MMORPG: Run around, kill random mythical creatures, than go on stupid quests to recover stupid shit while on a mythical creature genocide. As your level get higher, your social life gets lower. You'll realize that you speak to people only about once a week, that when you meet any of your former friends you'll force the game upon them, and you will stay up to 5 AM playing the game on weekdays than stop. Either that, you die of fatigue.
Yeah, fun. This is why I don't give a flying fuck about games like Crysis. I don't care about the graphics, it's still the same when it comes to game play. It really hasn't changed that much since Doom or Marathon. And the story is so cliche; you're an elite commando on an island and you gotta defeat known bad-guys (north koreans) and aliens. The Mission: rescue some scientists. You'll use a super suit to help you. Gee I never heard of that before!
