Us Americans being stupid? How did you manage to get video footage of that? Duurr.

It just goes to show how talentless and lazy Canadians are.

Calling each other children just shows we are no better then each other. Geez this generated into a flame war fast.

The other thing is America has a fear of those who are smart. The simple minded assumption is if you are dumb, you cannot be tricky, thus unable to lie. This explains how Bush got into office TWICE and this proves how this deeply ingrained assumption is incorrect. The culture if you have not noticed are paranoid of those who are into intellectual pursuits and despises them.

The other thing is most Americans (including myself) is that we view The British and Canadians and most of the English speaking world as brothers and family. Is our relationship so dysfunctional that you guys choose to disown us? I hate to say a cliche, but can't we all get along?

The final thing is if the answer is you dislike us due to the actions of our government (I having been talking to a couple Australians later and the stuff our military crammed down their throats is horrible. The Anuz treaty and such.) then remember we Americans are getting screwed too by our government. We really want them to change, so instead of bitching about us, help us with this problem.

If it is because we Americans are on our worst behavior when we visit your country (I have seen how Americans act when on vacation, it is very ugly) then frankly all I know is I try my best to politely keep others in line the best I can. I live in Vegas and way I see Tourists act in ways that makes me wanna kick their ass as well. Lord knows how you guys feel.

Finally, if you think we are all stupid due to what a segment on TV shows you, try digging deeper and looking into the mirror. We smart Americans exist. You use such tactics to deflate our superiority (or what is left of it.) and remember humor used in such a manner is usually the weapon of the underdog. If you gauge a nation's intelligence by what a spokesperson says on the TV and do not realize it is selective to be that way, then you are no better.

Yeah and I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're lying. You're just repeating another one of those myths that Canadians like to create, and repeat over and over again without there being a shred of truth to it.

You actually think that without reservations, without any sort of research as to where they are going, Americans are actually going to up and split to Canada expecting polar bears and blizzards? You actually expect people to believe that Americans went to Nova Scotia for vacation without doing any research at all even though it requires a pretty long ferry ride or drive to get there even from the closest US state?

That reminds of Canadians repeating the myth about Americans driving up to Canada in the summer with ski racks on their cars with all kinds of snow gear. That's almost as ridiculous as what you just said. As if Americans would just go to Canada expecting snow, without any kind of reservations or info about destination like a ski resort.

Canadians mindlessly repeat so many freaking myths.

For example, I'm sure you've heard the whole MYTH about an American carrier confronting a Canadian lighthouse as if it was a ship.

I've heard Canadians repeat it almost word for word many times. The fact that it is COMPLETELY FALSE is the last thing people want to know.

Canadians repeat it as if it's some fundamental fact. Just like all the bullshit about Americans coming up in July with skis and winter coats.

Lies and more lies... the staple of Canadian pride.

Not only that, the problem with editing that show wasn't all the Americans who got the right answers,

And it doesn't show that it's really easy to edit a video deceptively to make anything appear just about anyway.

You could ask several people a question to find a certain desired answer. BUT you could then only show the question being asked once on the video, followed by several other clips of people giving answers to different questions, making it seem as if all those people were answering the same question.

EXAMPLE:

I could and ask people "what is the worst enemy to America", someone would say "Russia" or "China" or something. Then I could ask many more people questions like:

-What is the smallest country in the world?
-What is America's closest ally?
-What place does the world "aloha" come from?

Or anything like that...

And then, show the first question asked and the answer, then don't show the next people getting asked the real questions, and just include their answers. Therefore this is how it would APPEAR:

Question: "What is America's worst enemy"?
Answer1: "Russia"
Answer2: UK
Answer3: Hawaii

Then people who are oblivious to how distorted the video is will all claim with authority that Americans are stupid, that Americans think the British are our enemy, and that Hawaii is a country, not a state, that is our enemy.

This is the kind of thing you see in the Chasers War on Everything video.

The Talking to Americans is a little less malevolent. But it is mostly because it DECEIVES the people being interviewed. It doesn't ask a simply question, it makes the people think they are being interviewed by a legitimate News person with a camera and microphone... the whole set up.

This would happen to anyone, from any country.

Apparently you've never heard of the Blackcomb Glacier at Whistler Resort. I can speak from experience that summer skiing in Canada is not a myth.

Canadians mindlessly repeat so many freaking myths.

So do americans, what's your point?

For example, I'm sure you've heard the whole MYTH about an American carrier confronting a Canadian lighthouse as if it was a ship.

LMAO yeah that was hilarious.

Lies and more lies... the staple of Canadian pride.

Is that anything like, arrogance and ignorance are the staple of American pride?

So what about "Jay Walking" from the Jay Leno show? That didn't deceive people, he asked them straight up questions, but obviously only showed the ignorant people with humorous answers.
And then when he found two of the dumbest people in the galaxy, he made a part of the show dedicated to them, "What Would Kip and Kim Do?"

I think it was FOXXX news from Australia that did this video asking americans who better to attack next. It's not deceiving, it just shows ignorance at its finest. These are just funny videos, if you take any offence to them, then just wait, you will grow up one day to see the humour.

NOWHERE NEAR what Canadians do.

If there's a myth it's usually not part of some all-encompassing societal view like Canadians have.

For example, I'm sure you've heard the whole MYTH about an American carrier confronting a Canadian lighthouse as if it was a ship.
LMAO yeah that was hilarious.

YEAH, except it's FALSE and delusional Canadians like you are stupid enough, and desperate enough to try and feel better about your country that you'd actually believe it.

Lies and more lies... the staple of Canadian pride.
Is that anything like, arrogance and ignorance are the staple of American pride?

First, Canadians are way more arrogant than Americans. The difference is, Canadians have to lie and repeat myths to do it. Americans will repeat facts, and Canadians who are so use to hearing bullshit about America and consider such as status quo have to discount the TRUTH as "arrogance" so that they can help cope with having their Canadian views destroyed.

It's funny how the arrogance and ignorance has been exuded by Canadians like you far more so than by Americans. Then you have the audacity, after having you pro-Canadian views systematically proved wrong, to claim that the person who did it is "arrogant".

I guess to you, it's only arrogance if the people who have it are actually saying something true. If you're American, you're arrogant, if you're Canadian you're "proud". Funny though, Canadian pride is based on lies. Media in Canada is required by law to be pro-Canadian, it injects your mind with nationalist bullshit on a daily basis. Since Canadians hear it so much, you have no point of reference and therefore YOUR arrogance to you just seems like the norm, while the TRUTH that disproves your views by the hand of an American is "arrogance". You're so filled with the distorted comparisons of Canada and US, the fabricated areas of supposed superiorty of Canada, that when your views are disproved you have to resort to gradeschool tactics of "OMG YOU"RE ARROGANT".

It helps you cope.

So what about "Jay Walking" from the Jay Leno show? That didn't deceive people, he asked them straight up questions, but obviously only showed the ignorant people with humorous answers.

Don't you find it funny that you're basing your view on television shows?

Firstly, for all you know they are actors.

Secondly, if they aren't, you're making a false assumption that just because this is covered in America more so in your country, that it somehow is more common in America. This misconception is part of the larger Canadian inferiority complex. You hear so much about America, emphasizing the negatives and ignoring or being completely oblivious to the positives, that you think what you see as negative is somehow more common in America than your country.

And then when he found two of the dumbest people in the galaxy, he made a part of the show dedicated to them, "What Would Kip and Kim Do?"

You're actually fucking dumb enough to think that those people somehow represent Americans. You think that someone couldn't find equally dumb people in any country?

I think it was FOXXX news from Australia that did this video asking americans who better to attack next.

That was part of Chaser's War on Everything.

It's not deceiving, it just shows ignorance at its finest.

Lol no it doesn't you moron. It shows how people can use what is essentially propaganda, to create a false stereotype of people based on the cunningly edited video, intentionally distorted and twisted to create a dramatic effect.

These are just funny videos, if you take any offence to them, then just wait, you will grow up one day to see the humour.

Yeah, except when videos like this that show Australians acting ignorant and stupid, THEN people like you (and Australians) will automatically start to think objectively and say something like "that video doesn't mean all Australians are like that".

It's funny how when it's Americans in the video... it somehow means America is filled with stupid people.. When it involves Americans, people like you automatically cease thinking objectively. Your bias and your inferiority complex takes over and you interpret it a certain way because you WANT it to mean a certain thing.

If the video showed stupid, ignorant people in other countries, there is no motivation to take it out of context. In that case, the video is just showing a view people that don't in any way depict the country.

If it's America... it's ok for you to distort facts and take it out of context to use it to bash Americans.

If it's people form a country that isn't the center of negative attention, then let's be objective here and realize that it's just a video.

Clear and distinct bias.

;
Sorry dude, that smell is the B.S. of your own making & your standing in it.
You want to call me a liar... prove it.
you know how to use a google search.
Look up Elmsdale Nova Scotia.
Find out where it is in relation to the airport (Rogert Stanfeild ,Halifax International Airport).
You'll find that Elmsdale is 2 exits out from the city past the airport.
I was working on a production & had taken a production mini van home for the night & was called & asked to pick up a gaffer & D.P & their gear who were flying in from la, on my way in to the office.
It was early in the morning, the airport is approx. 30 miles outside the city ,in the woods (yeah its Canada we got a lot of that here). These 2 guy's were surprised dude.
They expected villages, they were not stupid, they didn't expect dog teams & igloo's but they didn't expect a city with 300,000 people in it.
I remember the D.P. was Wally Fister (I think that's how you spell the last name) saying "Jesus, that's a city "as we came in through Dartmouth going to Halifax... I said yeah that's where the Production Company is. The Production shot outside of Halifax , in a little fishing village & surrounding community. They had looked into that, but didn't realise there was a city of that size in Nova Scotia.

I worked in Newfoundland on a show called 'Shipping News', we shot much of it in Nova Scotia, but the big outdoor vistas & scenic portions were shot in Newfoundland. We went to Newfoundland in early May. When a photo shoot team (stills photographers & assistants), along with various upper Producer types flew in for a week they came complete with Arctic Muklukslike Sorels, down coats (Canada Goose) & down pants, huge mittens.
We were working in T shirts & Jeans with a fleece hoodie & a wind breakers, and ball hats.
They looked like so many over stuffed (& over dressed) penguins that waddled when they walked.

We had a hike into set from where the shuttle vans could go of about a thousand yards.
You can't be dressed like that & do any real activity unless its really cold, I mean well below zero degree's.
Because of where they were from they equated a little snow on the ground to needing this type of gear, but the temp. in the daytime was around 32 to 40 degrees, way too warm for that type of gear.
They would be moving about, start sweating & once you start sweating in that temperature, your going to get cold.
We were dressed light enough to be able to work, but warm enough that when we pause (while the camera is rolling) we can close a zipper put on a light pair of gloves & your fine.

You want to call me a liar, you need to be able to prove it.
Your opinion , cannot prove that anyone is lying or not.
So now the balls back in your court.
I've given you 2 scenario's that I've experienced personally. I have been around enough crew & have heard other experiences similar to mine, from guy's in transport who pick up actors & directors etc.
They drive them into the Production offices help them get situated in their hotel/home whatever, & they see Ski's coming here in July dude (they should be bringing their golf clubs).
I've seen big time camera guy's on Titanic (with James Cameron) walking around in Early part of the year (Spring time) in boots that you could use in the Antarctic, where its cold ,very cold but dry.
Absolutly useless here, they can't take the 'wet'
Here in Nova Scotia its wet, very wet, & often its a cold & wet. But that's a long way from dry Arctic cold.

Take this for example. It only shows stupid answers. Most people would probably give the right answer or at least not something stupid.

I knew way before I ever say 'Jay Walking" that alot of americans were ignorant. That just gave me a giggle now and then.

Firstly, for all you know they are actors.

They very well could have been actors, but it was hilarious all the same.

LMAO, you try as hard as you can to protect your fellow idgits don't ya? That map was intentionally distorted to PROVE the ignorance of some americans. How in the hell someone could mistake Australia for North Korea is beyond me. But go ahead and keep telling yourself its propaganda.

Actually you're a blatant liar and to anyone who isn't a desperate Canadian, it's quite obvious.

You want to call me a liar... prove it.

You made a claim, PROVE IT.

Lol nice logic there. It doesn't work that way, you can't rest your credibility based on the lack of disproof of your claims.

Hey, I met the Tom Cruise and we played hopscotch. Oh and that was right before Lord Xenu of the picked me up in his spaceship and took me around the universe.

Um it's pretty obvious that you're lying because you're just repeating Canadian myths and trying to lend credibility to it by suggesting you yourself have witnessed it.

Nope, prove that you saw it. Provide actual proof that Americans tend to do that instead of just acting like a parrot and reciting nonsense.

And it's funny because you were just defending the Jay Leno bit. So I guess you think a comedy show can be credible, but the fact that you yourself have exuded Canadian myth-believing and have been proven wrong systematically means nothing to you.

Lol I've disproved Canadian myths so many times by proving Canadians like you wrong. It's almost hilarious that you'd suggest otherwise. Here's just a short list of instances:

Here a Canadian was suggesting that the UK is better than the US in human development. Proved wrong.

Here a Canadian talks about the Canadian-developed Avro Arrow that was supposedly some superior plane. Proved wrong.

Here a Canadian is repeating myths about the US economy supposedly being worse than Canada, or the US being dependent on Canada as much as Canada is dependent on the US. Proved wrong. Oh and by the way I PROVED YOU WRONG in that area as well.

Here's the Canadian myth that your healthcare quality is better and that your higher score in certain areas like life expectancy and fetal death were due to your healthcare. Proved wrong. Considering that in areas where healthcare quality can actually be gauged, i.e. survivability from treatable diseases, the US scores higher than Canada.

Here I disproved a Canadian (you) about taxes in Canada supposedly being lower.

There's the myth of the Canadian dollar being more valuable because Canada's economy is supposedly stronger. Proved wrong.

There's the myth that Canada defeated the US in the War of 1812. Proved wrong. Funny thing about Canadians is that their myths are so completely and utterly bullshit that they have to entirely rewrite history and pretend that their nation existed decades before it actually did, so that they can take credit for what the British empire did.

There's the myth that Canada didn't do things like provide weapons to Iraq, or support dictators like Pinochet. Proved wrong, and proved wrong. That was you. You Canadians repeat completely hypocritical nonsense about the US while failing to realize that your country did whatever you're accusing the US of doing. The notion of Canada being a relatively benevolent or innocent country compared to the US is a Canadian myth.

Oh, and then there's the myth about Canada being the strongest for anti-proliferation. Nevermind Canada helped India develop its nuclear bomb.

There's several more instances that I can actually "prove". But don't pretend as if those myths aren't widespread among Canadians. Every single Canadian on NG, as an example, (except perhaps Elfer) has repeated those myths time and time again. This won't amount to proof, but I've seen it on Canadian TV, and heard it all uttered by Canadians in person several times. If you have any shred of honesty you'll acknowledge that those myths are widespread in Canada.

You yourself have proved that Canadians believe a ridiculous amount of false crap in order to fortify otherwise nonexistent pride. Your myths have been proven to be just that.

Umm, nope, you're wrong. I do not believe that Canadians are more arrogant than americans, and I ask you to prove your outlandish claim. If you can of course.

Yet another example of how you are so utterly brainwashed that any criticism of Canada has to be "proved" but you just claim as fact anything you see or hear on TV. Where's your proof that Americans are more arrogant than Canadians?

You are epitomizing the Canadian mindset. Even when YOUR arrogance, the things you claim about Canada being better get proved wrong, you have the audacity to suggest Americans are arrogant. This is even though what they say is TRUE about being better in whatever aspect and usually do it as defense against the LIES that are leveled at them from Canadians like you.

Arrogant Canadian: " lolz like our economy is much better than yours cuz your dollar is worth less now. Canada is better lolzomg America suck."

American: "Currency value doesn't mean much, look at Japan and Mexico. Mexico has a much higher valued currency yet its economy is crap compared to Japan's. Oh and look here, it seems the US economy is growing at a faster rate than Canada's"

Arrogant Canadian: "OMG YOUR ARROGANT"

You have to discount the TRUTH as arrogant, so that your arrogance that you consider to just be pride, can be salvaged after something you believe gets proved wrong.

I knew way before I ever say 'Jay Walking" that alot of americans were ignorant.

Actually you've been brainwashed as a delusional, myth-swallowing Canadian that your country has some sort of moral superiority.

Seriously you're just proving how delusional you are. If you have no proof of Americans being dumb and ignorant and your only source is television shows that specifically dramatize it and edit videos to create an effect, you just claim it as fact. But then when Canadians are accused of something you demand some sort of solid fact and videos of the same type wouldn't count to you.

That just gave me a giggle now and then.

Yeah and the funny thing is that you have to emphasize it. You're so brainwashed, so desperate to believe lies that it makes you giddy as long as you can pretend that it someone actually depicts Americans in a fair war. Never mind, you know, Canadians themselves including you get proved wrong and proved to be the ignorant ones all the time.

I never said there aren't any ignorant Canadians now did I?

You just said that you always knew Americans are ignorant, and ignorant would imply relative ignorance. Therefore that would imply that you think Canadians aren't ignorant compared to Americans and that a single video showing Americans acting a certain way is some how indicative of America.

You're actually fucking dumb enough to think that those people somehow represent Americans. You think that someone couldn't find equally dumb people in any country?
Hot damn, and you call everyone else delusional. I never said they represent americans, nor did I ever think that.

LOL as opposed to what you say here:

LMAO, you try as hard as you can to protect your fellow idgits don't ya? That map was intentionally distorted to PROVE the ignorance of some americans. How in the hell someone could mistake Australia for North Korea is beyond me. But go ahead and keep telling yourself its propaganda.

BINGO.

You just said that the video, being as distorted as it is, manages to "PROVE" ignorance of Americans.

Now, run along before you miss your anger management class.

Run along and go watch the CBC so that you can keep having pro-Canadian myths injected into your brain.

Yeah and I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're lying. You're just repeating another one of those myths that Canadians like to create, and repeat over and over again without there being a shred of truth to it.
;
Actually you're a blatant liar and to anyone who isn't a desperate Canadian, it's quite obvious.

You want to call me a liar... prove it.
You made a claim, PROVE IT.

And you repeated the myth and therefore you're going to have to prove it, not pretend it's true just because I can't disprove it, which is impossible to do, thus making it even more inapplicable to the argument.

You said I was lying.

That's because you probably are.

You said you're not lying, prove it. Prove that the myth you just repeated has actually been documented.

THAT would validate what you say. You can't validate what you say just because I can't disprove it. What you're doing here is an argument from ignorance, a logical fallacy.

Apply that to something else. What if someone said they traveled the universe in a space ship accompanied by aliens. If someone accuses them of lying and they just say "prove I'm lying" that doesn't mean that their story is true.

If you look into this area, you'll see that the movie's I worked on actually happened.

Dur... prove it.

My claim is I worked on them, you prove I didn't.

AHAHA

Just for argument's sake: Say I'm making the claim I live in a house made of 24 karat gold, staffed with Umpa Lumpa butlers, Leprechaun sentries armed with lasers, where I throw shindigs that are attended by the likes of Jessica Alba and Petra Nimcova who both snort cocaine off my wang.

Prove this isn't true.

And.....go.

THe onus of proof was on you & because you are incapable of proving that I am lying you are twisting it in a pathetic attempt to look like you know what your talking about.

Lol. You repeated a myth, you tried to give credibility to it by claiming that you yourself have witnessed it. Yet you have absolutely zero evidence of it ever being documented. All you have is "i did, I saw, this happened, I heard".

If you're going to make a claim, you have to validate it before you can apply it to an argument. That's how things work. You can't claim something in such a simple argument and expect it to be considered credible just because it can't be disproved.

You truly are an asshole, but your just not as useful as an anus.

Lol. I think you're a disgruntled little Canadian that can't handle that he's been put on the spot.

Until you can offer proof, I wasn't involved with these Productions, Unless you were here there is no way you can disprove my claims.

Doesn't work that way. Those are some pretty hefty claims. You can't pretend your claims that you have no proof of are valid based on lack of disproof. Because you know there is know way for me to disprove your claims, just like I know there is no way that you could disprove it if I made up any fanciful story I wanted.

People who come here from the Southern U.S very often don't have a clue... like yourself.

Prove it.

Arguing with you is a waste of time.

Yeah, when people like you expect your time to be spent lying out your ass as your only source of argument. You're so used to having Canadian myths be considered as fact that when you're put in a position where you have to validate it, you can't. Then you freak out and can't adapt because you're out of your element.

Unlike yourself I know what its like to deal with uninformed people who come here.

Prove it.

Your not here, so your opinion counts for nothing.

You can't prove anything you said, therefore your opinion counts for nothing.

If you were here I'd knock your head off, even though Shit Splatters.

Lol... in a political argument you have to talk about violence. How incredibly lame.

But I do adore your simplistic desire to lash out at that which you don't understand. It's cute watching you squirm just because your convenient, isolated little view of things has been compromised.

You're like an Ape that sees a shiny object. Since you don't understand it, and it compromises your simple "humping and bananas" mindset, you devolve to primate mode and you want to lash out against it violently.

THIS IS A COMEDY.

This is not intended to be a slant against Americans, it is meant to be a JOKE! And anyone who takes the damn thing seriously has issues! Duh! Any Canadian who really believes the whole country is THAT stupid needs to get a reality check, and any American who thinks that we Canadians are basing our opinion of our Sister to the South on Rick Mercer... well, seriously, learn to laugh at yourselves for a change and hang up the pride for a while.

For gawd's sake, you guys make enough igloo/hockey/eh/beaver jokes about us as it is. This is just payback. lol

Umm no. Unlike you I don't have unlimited time available to spend on a BBS (I have a job, family, life). That and this topic doesn't warrant more than a 2 minute post. And you didn't discredit shit. And as I proved, you go on and on about Canada being better at things yet every case you've ever made has been proven to be false.

Therefore it's obvious you have a major inferiority complex and therefore have to live a lie to feel better about your country. Therefore, it's obvious that the fact that the US is more powerful in every conceivable aspect has you Canadians jealous. Oh that and the fact that your culture is basically an imitation of American culture, your country is dominated by the US economy etc..

Umm no. Unlike you I don't have unlimited time available to spend on a BBS (I have a job, family, life).

Try... I've disproved just about everything you've ever said when pretending Canada is better than the US about something, ever.

Prove that there are more ignorant Americans by proportion of population than comparable countries including Canada.

You can't do that. So instead you emphasize a few video clips.
