I've yet to go to a gig on my own. At least I have a friend or my sister who will always like to go to live shows that either of us consider going to so I easily solve my problems there. Going to a gig on your own feels the same as going to the cinemas on your own.

Almost the same. But the thing is, you go to a cinema and sit in silence and watch the film anyway, but at a gig there's lots of downtime between support acts and such, and also it's always better to have someone to dance with.

I only have two more planned live shows for the year and that will be it and both are planned with a friend of mine. Kinda sad how the last two months of 2011 had more going to more live shows than I have for the whole of this year. More reasons how I've found this year to be awfully quiet.

That sounds horrific.

It seems I may actually have to start buying my jazz music, which I honestly doubt will be much easier.

Do you have any sorta store like Barns and Noble? Everyone around here seems to have a surplus of jazz cds that they sell super cheap, like bargain bin cheap

So much for actually trying this once in a while. I at least see Radiohead and The Avalanches on your charts so that will count something for us.

I've been listening to few 80's metal bands quite a lot. Mainly Manowar, MegaDeth and Anthrax. Those sort of bands have always been up there amongst my all time favourites but I never usually listen to them this much.

Bands like these bands were, as far as I'm concerned, the peak of metal.

There are times that I'd probably agree with that. Depends on what bands we're comparing. The genres as a whole though, I probably like equally.

The vocalist pretty much ruined the band imo. I liked it better when I just heard the instrumentals

Yeah the vocalist is awful. I'm not a fan of the instrumental sound either. All the songs are far too similar I think.

Their most recent vocalist is p neat imo, but I'll agree with you that the instrumentals are better.

A lot of good stuff right there... However, take caution with all three's mid-later works as they did fall a bit there. Manowar's last album was downright embarassing and Megadeth can be hit and miss. At least the last Anthrax album was good so they're on the right track.

Manowar have always been a bit hit and miss with me. They have some awesome songs but there's also a lot of slow ballad like stuff that just completely loses my interest. Megadeth are a band that I only recently started listening to. I always knew of them but never game them much attention for some reason, now I love most of what I've heard. Anthrax have always been one of my top metal bands but yea, some of their newer albums are pretty lackluster.

With bands like those, I do mainly focus on their stuff that was released in the 80's. How come almost all good music came from the 80s?

Currently listening to Skid Row's self titled album. Not as big a fan of their other stuff but this is a fantastic album.

This is true at best. If you want them at their most consistent, Battle Hymns really is the best album to look at with Hail to England a second close.

Megadeth are a band that I only recently started listening to. I always knew of them but never game them much attention for some reason, now I love most of what I've heard.

If you pick up their first six albums (Cryptic Writings isn't so bad either) and Endgame, that should set you for life.

Anthrax have always been one of my top metal bands but yea, some of their newer albums are pretty lackluster.

Apart from Sounds of White Noise, I avoided the John Bush era altogether. Couldn't even like We've Come for You All which is said to be one of the better releases from them.

With bands like those, I do mainly focus on their stuff that was released in the 80's. How come almost all good music came from the 80s?

If you want more 80s metal, I can show you tons more!
