We call it Poshuip here, we needed an abbreviation since we talked about it so much.

Were the red hot chili peppers always this cheesy? I hadn't listened to them in years, since stadium arcadium came out.

Yea but Geenday suck.

When my last album ended I was on 9,999 plays. I wonder what my 10k song should be. This, perhaps?

Today Pitchfork released the first half of their Top 50 albums list for 2011

In the spirit of making divisive lists spawned only to make people argue why don't we liven things up with a talk about our own top albums of this, the year 2011!?

For me it's easy!

1. The Weeknd - House of Balloons (AOTYAY)
2. Frank Ocean - nostalgia/ultra
3. The Weeknd - Thursday
4. St. Vincent - Strange Mercy
6. Terius Nash (The-Dream) - 1977
7. Drake - Take Care
8. Big K.R.I.T - The Return of 4eva
9. Radiohead - The King of Limbs
10. Bombay Bicycle Club - A Different Kind of Fix

Also p good
Lady Gaga - Born This Way
Death Grips - Exmilitary
Tyler, the Creator - Goblin
Okkervill River - I Am Very Far
The Dodos - No Color
Avril Lavigne - What the Hell (tee hee jk)

This was a very good year for mixtapes imo. Which is awesome because free music is the best music, especially when the best music is also THE BEST MUSIC!!!

If you care about mine so much (which I have written up), you'll hear from me most likely before Christmas in the Metal Hell. Sorry guys, the musical diversion is limited for me when it comes to new releases.

Response to Last.Fm Club 2011-12-15 15:33:01

Figured it's about time to listen to something a little more festive so I was playing We Wish You A Metal Xmas earlier. Not a bad CD but if I'm honest, the only song on there that I really like is the one with Lemmy singing Run Rudolph Run.

Anyone have any rock/metal Christmas albums they'd recommend? I hear the same Christmas songs every year so I figured it's time for a change.

Year's been a bit weak for me. Not bad, but no 2009.

Anyway, here we are. From best to not best. Or something

Metronomy - The English Riviera
The Antlers - Burst Apart
Braids - Native Speaker
Laki Mera - The Proximity Effect
The Field - Looping State Of Mind
Washed Out - Within And Without
Feist - Metals
Germany Germany - Adventures
Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues
M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

And here's my longlist:

Smith Westerns - Die It Blonde
Psychologist - Waves of OK EP
The Pains of Being Pure At Heart - Belong
nervous_testpilot - Frozen Synapse Original Soundtrack
Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes
James Blake - James Blake
Jamie Woon - Mirrorwriting
Friendly Fires - Pala
Foster The People - Foster The People EP
Florence + the Machine - Ceremonials
Explosions in the Sky - Take Care, Take Care, Take Care
Esben and the Witch - Violet Cries
Cults - Cults
Einar Stray - Chiaroscuro
Cosmonaut Grechko - Alaska 2100
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Hysterical
Bibio - Mind Bokeh
Balam Acab - Wander / Wonder
Beirut - Rip Tide

Knife Party aka some dudes from pendulum or whatever put out a free EP. I don't really care for it, but I see skrillex pop up in people's charts here sometimes so some of you may like it.

I was sadly disappointed to find out it wasn't even slightly a reference to the Deftones song.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who appreciates IDM and other fine rock acts of the 80-90's.

So does this mean I'm in? I have a really bad habit of joining clubs and never really posting in them...

At 12/22/11 09:23 PM, Oolaph wrote: Low compatibility. That's fairly disappointing, actually.

Don't feel bad about it. I generally have a broad range of musical appreciation, but I don't have many tracks that would otherwise reflect it. This is mostly because the majority of my music library is either electronic, rock, or game soundtracks with little else in it.

I am trying to expand my collection however - the main reason I joined last.fm was to discover new music that I might enjoy. A small chunk of what I listen to now was discovered through the service, so I'm sure it will continue to grow.

Take care of yourself.

How about no?

And are we talking about older R&B like B.B. King and Ray Charles, 70's Rhythm & Blues like Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder, or contemporary R&B like R. Kelly, Usher, and Alicia Keys? This is important.
