According to iTunes I've listened to all of Hvarf, 'Svefn-g-Englar' and 'Starálfur' from Ágætis Byrjun and then a few other tracks that were on this 'We Play Endlessly' thing I got free in the Guardian (UK Newspaper), I believe besides ones from Takk... I listened to 'Gobbledigook' and another (I think 'nní mér syngur vitleysingur') from the new album.
The stuff on Ágætis Byrjun sounds creepy and the songs from the new album just sound bad (or at least not to my tastes). I still need to get the album.
Svefn-g-englar, Viðrar vel til loftárása, and Olsen Olsen from Ágætis Byrjun, are all incredible. I haven't heard anything from the new album though besides Gobbledigook, which I didn't like too much, although I heard that Ara Batur and Fljotavik are good.
Check out ( ), if you haven't already. It's not their best album, but the first half is amazing, as well as the last track. Fucking weird name too. But yeah, I agree that their best album is Takk....
I try not to have favorite Sigur Rós songs, actually. Since I can't understand what they're saying, at all, the tracks all sort of mesh in together, but there are the standout tracks that I take notice to.
