Man.... your charts are full of fail guys...
there is not possible way for you to listen to more than 900 songs in a week

that's more than 5 songs an hour... and thats if you don't sleep...
I'm talking about you XtremeofParanoia.

Please guys... I might be wrong, but I'm quite sure that some of you guys just let the media player run even when your not there...

and btw sk8er girl or whatever your name is... 5066 plays for Bring Me The Horizon???
that's more than 72 plays per day...

I really think that some of you guys make fake lists... and it really just fails...

and if your not... just find some more artists to listen to... it's fucking ridiculous to listen to more than
100 titles by one artist in a week...

so... I don't know what you guys think about it... but stat whoring about music really isn't awesome..

And don't go telling me that I'm not a real music fan and that it would be the reason why I don't have
as much plays as you guys...
I listen to music any chance I get. Even at school, if I have time I listen to music during class when teachers don't care
I listen to music when I play PS3 and when I'm on the computer or in the car and in the bus.

So here's a real chart of songs that I really listenned to.

Five songs an hour? Are you sure this is the correct calculation?

72 plays per day isn't so bad. Average BMTH song is about 4:0, from what I've seen of their songs. 4 x 72 = 288 minutes. That's about two and a half hours. So if she just listens to them for two to three hours a day, for one week, she can legitimately get 506 plays.

I really think that some of you guys make fake lists... and it really just fails...

Stop saying "fail," i hate that word.

and if your not... just find some more artists to listen to... it's fucking ridiculous to listen to more than

I don't understand why it's bad to listen to one artist a lot. Sometimes you just get into those moods where you can only really listen to one artist. Every once in a while I decide to listen to everything I have by Defiance, Ohio, since it's all about an hour and a half long. So I can get like 80 plays in a day just because I really like Defiance. I don't do that often though.

I listen to music any chance I get. Even at school, if I have time I listen to music during class when teachers don't care

Do you scrobble the plays from your ipod or MP3 player before posting your charts?

Also take into consideration that song length varies from artist to artist. Hypothetical situation. Person A listens to Godspeed You! Black Emperor for two hours. Person B listens to Big Black for two hours. By the end of the two hours, Person A will have maybe four or five plays, while Person B will have around 50. The music you listen to tends be longer than the music other people do. Also, your plays are more evenly spread out, while Sk8ergirl or whatever plays a lot of one artist and very little of another.

I will admit I listened to Chelsea Smile and The Comedown just recently and as much as I hate Oli's vocals, the riff/breakdown's in those songs are catchy.

You gotta try it before you knock it, right?

Way better than anything on Count Your Blessings anyway.

This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

yeah... you don't do that often and your list is realistic, all the time. But those that I see with more than a 100 play a week of the same artist do it each and every week. I think that they should open their mind to some more stuff.

I listen to music any chance I get. Even at school, if I have time I listen to music during class when teachers don't care

yup, all the time.

Also take into consideration that song length varies from artist to artist.

Yeah... like this guy who has 243524 plays of Buckethead a week...
7:00 minutes songs... all of them...

Dude... I listenned to music all week long... and only got 381 titles. I have to admit that my song's lenght are most of the time over 6:00 minutes long... so that's why I don't get as many plays as them
but 900 plays... really man... I think this guy just starts is media player in the morning and when he comes back from work or school he just let it keep on going until he goes to sleep or somethin...

I always have my iPod with me... fuckin always, and I don't get as many plays.

and just think about it... if he sleeps for 8 hours at least in the night, theres like 40 plays that cannot be made during the night, so when he's awake for like 16 hours a day he as to get something like 8 plays an hour (cause you don't listen to music when you sleep right?)

And let's pretend that he listens to 4 minutes tracks only...
that's still 32 minutes of music per hour...

that's just not fitting dude... it's freakin random

What exactly is it to you if people listen to one artist however many times in a single week? Like me, I had just recently become enamored with Arcade Fire - obviously I'd want to keep on listening throughout that whole week.

I think that they should open their mind to some more stuff.

A week's plays is not representative of one's overall music taste.

I'm talking about you XtremeofParanoia.

If most songs are roughly 5 minutes or less, than that's 10 you could listen to in an hour. So say I'm listening to music for most hours I'm awake on some days then that's a lot of music being clocked.

Please guys... I might be wrong, but I'm quite sure that some of you guys just let the media player run even when your not there...

What would be the point of that? There's no prize you get. I must admit sometimes LastFM scrobbles songs wrongly and adds two of them when there was only one played, but how am I meant to be held responsible for that?

I'm just a sad, lonely boy who spends most of his days at his PC listening to music and whenever I do need to go out I always have my iPod with me.

I listen to my iPod when I'm awake. I listen to my iTunes when I'm at my PC.
Both scrobble.

It's as simple as that.

Also, I quite honestly do often listen to one band significantly more in a particular week. That doesn't really mean anything though. :\

Yes there is.

I did the math... and if you sleep 8 hours per night, than for the 16 hours per day that you are awake, you have to listen to 32 minutes of music per hour, that's 8 hours of music each an everyday. And that's if your listen to really short songs. There's barely anything in my iTunes that's under 4 minutes of lenght.

I thought about this possibility.
Your asking me what would be the point of that? Absolutely nothing else than stat whoring...
I play call of duty... and when I check the leaderboards for let's say Zombie Mode, some people have made it to level 12000... alone. When I play with 3 other guys on it, I can hardly get to level 14 on the newest zombie level and to level 24 on the first zombie level.
These guys just glitch to get the highest possible level... Maybe they think that it's making them look awesome...

I'm just a sad, lonely boy who spends most of his days at his PC listening to music and whenever I do need to go out I always have my iPod with me.

well... I'm listenning to music on my iPod right now... moving around the house... and still I won't get 900 plays before the end of this week.

I still do not believe that it's possible to get 900 plays... especially if you have a life, that you work... that you spare sometime with friends
and beloved one. And I just checked Nev and Dentatus charts... these guys are probably in the biggest music fans here on Newgrounds.
They both are members of various Music clubs... and still their playlists are not ridiculous like some that I found in here.

But maybe you are right... maybe it's just the scrobbling that's messed up :P

I could quite easily listen to music on average, if you allow for breaks and things, about 8 hours continuous per day lets say. I don't make quite that anymore but I certainly used to, regularly.

That's 3360 minutes of playing.

Now while you don't have much under 4 minutes, I don't have much over that, that's just the genre I listen to. My average song is probably around 3.5 minutes long. That's 960 songs in a week quite comfortably. If I was feeling a lot of The Hives that week I could quite easily rack up significantly more (since they have quite short songs).

Yes, but I listen to tracks that are over ten minutes in length, and thats what I consider short.

And I don't listen to music that much, I'll listen to maybe an hour of music every few hours.

500 songs is possible if you like the band that much. I prefer a variety though so that songs don't become too stale.

I go through almost like mood swings with my music. I'll listen to something a lot, then a week or two later won't at all.

That kinda helps my charts look like that.

Also, I generally listen to albums through and through rather than to just the songs I like most from an artist or whatever.

If I listen to three albums from one person a day, then that's 210 plays for that artist. And I could quite easily listen to more. Especially the chillout that I've been getting into recently I could quite easily leave on repeat all for hours... besides, I listen to one album's worth of scrobbles every morning while waking up and showering.... it all adds up.

I listen to fuck all music these days. I used to hit 500-700 a week without fail, now it's like 30.

I don't scrobble my iPod any more, though. Still, that'd only be another 20 plays per day or something.

To answer your question HeavenDuff, for that week I listened to BMTH from 7:50am-8:00am, 12:50pm - 1:20pm, and 3:40-4:00pm on my iPod. That's 1 hour of listening to BMTH just from my iPod.

When I came home, i did my homework whilst listening to them, and still listened to them from 5pm to about 11pm consecutively (maybe a couple songs not by them during that time, which explains why I had some 3OH!3 and other bands on there), so that there's about (7*60) + 60 = 480 minutes of music per day. 480*5 = 2400 and let's say i listened to 5 hours of BMTH on Saturday and Sunday. That's 2400 + 300 = 2700.

Most of the BMTH songs are 4 minutes long, so 2700/4 = 675.

And again, the reason I didn't have 675 BMTH plays was because I listened to other bands in between.

well, like, you couldn't, like, find it because, like, you're dumb, god

Same. Right now i'm reaching the zenith of a jazz fixation. My dad just gave me six new jazz CDs and I'm really stoked hahaha. Plus I'm going on a band trip until friday, which will give me much time for listening to music on bus rides and such.

Also, I generally listen to albums through and through rather than to just the songs I like most from an artist or whatever.

I am mostly the same, though there are notable exceptions: about half my plays for Charles Mingus are from playing "Boogie Stop Shuffle" on repeat, and about a fifth of my Tom Waits plays are from "I Don't Wanna Grow Up"

A lot of my plays are coming from last.fm radio stations which are often increasingly one-sided... ie: I've been listening to the "similar artists to Laura Marling" radio once, and she's done a collab with and is thematically similar to Mystery Jets, yet it only ever plays one of their songs. :\

if it's any consolation, guys, a friend from uni recently added me as a friend on last.fm, he has 180,000 plays. Of Iron Maiden and Dream Theatre and other typically long-songed bands.

In two years and two months.

At least he makes no effort to hide the fact he's cheating.
