3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsI have just recently got a new computer and have installed a Creative X-fi Xtreme Gamer sound card.
A couple of problems have occured, not sure if anyone has had this card before and know how to fix it but I'll post anyway.
My mic doesn't work in this soundcard, when there is a port on the soundcard with a little mic icon next to it, the other 3 ports are being used by my 5.1 channel speakers. I've checked my sound properties more than enough, nothing is on mute, yet I still can't get my mic to pick up any sound at all?
Also when In audio creation or the other modes, It makes really loud hissing noises when I play music or press a note in FL Studio and wont Shutup, I have to restart or mute all the sound properties to stop the sound from hissing.
I've tried researching topics on the Creative website but I have had no luck, other people have had the same problem, and some have apparently fixed it somehow, but I doesn't say how they did so.
Can anyone help at all?
First off I will tell you the sound blaster sound cards are not great for recording, the way the X-Fi XtremeGamer work is it use a Flexijack as both a line in jack and a mic jack. If the Flexijack is set to line in than there will be no power on it so something like a computer mic won't work. There should be a toggle switch in control menue (the menue that came with the software not the windows control).
i agree with what he said
but this is the sound card you should have bought
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as px?Item=N82E16829102014
or this one but its kind of spendy
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as px?Item=N82E16829102015
normaly its all about the configureataion of the internal hookup
some times the card needs to be attached to the chassie sound somedont
just doubble check the usermanual or call creatives tech support there really good about helping people out.
The line in / mic Flexijack option is greyed out, so I can't choose either.
Actualy for recording I think the creative sound cards really arn't the best choice, M-Audio tends to ge you the best quality plus I don't think the creative cards have a hardware monitor. The creative sound cards are more geared toward game and mp3 enhancement, not really the best when comes to recoding.

That means you probably don't have the right drivers, might what to call text support about that
yup, good choice of sound card compared to crative.
but before you get all savy with tech support i would un install all the relative drivers for your sound card.
then if you have a 2nd PCI slot avalible use that reinstall the card and the drivers and folow the directions carefuly
you never know, you might just miss one step.
if you dont have another avaliable PCI slot then just use the same one.
