Well, with LED lights they are powerful and last for a long time. Most of my powerful lights on full power will last 1-2 hours and that's with a rechargable battery. :) Some of my LED lights will run for 70 hours on low on a pair of CR123A lithium batteries, like you'd use in a camera, etc.
You once said that LEDs can last for years and use a lot less power than regular bulbs. Wow, I'd never have guessed that they do that now. I have a whole bunch of little LED lights which serve no real purpose, but I know some of them shine better than my old flashlights. Hell, even that little flashlight on my brother's cell phone works better than that huge yellow monster I had that ran on 4 D batteries.
Isn't that dozens of times more efficient than even most incandescent bulbs?
I have some of the hand cranking things. I thought they were cool, but now I think they are retarded. :) The new LED lights are way smaller and blow them out of the water as far as light output.
They seem like a good thing to have when there isn't any electrical power around. Seems like worst-case scenario stuff.
I'd estimate those crank up LED lights put out around 10-15 lumens, these new little LED lights can put out 130-200 lumens.
Well, you probably won't get too much power out of the crank-ups because they can't generate enough power to get up to that level of brightness. One question though: how does brightness correlate with visibility?
I mean, in practical terms, how much does it really matter which one you get?
