Of course Hilary would have the woman's vote. It would be the first time in the history of the United States that a woman be nominated for President, let alone elected to the Presidency. Thus-far, she definately has the best chance to be elected. She has the name recognition, the politcal backround, and the charisma.
The problem, however, is male political figures. Not only male politicians, but males in general would be afraid of having a woman president simply because it would be a completely new experience.
Fears of a woman President holding too much control over the country would definately be forefront in male minds. Hilary could clear out her cabinet and replace it with all females, as ridiculous as it may sound, in order to bring around changes in domestic or perhaps foreign affairs that may be detrimental to the USA's health.
Given many of the fears would be unfounded and absurd, too many men would feel the urge to resist such a sudden and "drastic" change to the government's structure.

I don't think many could make as drastic changes as Bush has in almost every aspect of citizen's lives, but I would not call Hillary that flawless.
As a senator she's had more media attention than impact of policies (which is usually the case when you are a first term junior senator). More prominant, though, is her handling of a universal health care policy at the start of Bill's administration. Her inability to get her task force together and unite congressional democrats under the White House caused a complete failure to get a meaningful health care reform passed. This was the final straw in the breakdown of Democratic unity and we still have problems.
Woman or not, I don't think she'll have that much sucess as a unifier for the Democratic party.

The only problem with the proposed run by Hillary Clinton? She's said she will not be running for President any time soon.

Colin is a good man, and he'd capture my vote because I can tell he wasn't really gung-ho about going into Iraq guns-blazing. However, he's got some things to sort out with the Washington Post and ol' G.W. before making any major choices about the future. It'd be great to see him run against Hillary in '08 -- either way we'd get something new.

She's running in 2008 I believe. (I didn't read much of this thread, just bits and pieces, so I don't know if someone already said that.)
I'm not sure if I would vote for her, she would really have to win me over since I really don't like "Slick Willy." I also want to know who else would be running against her before I make any big choices. I think she might win though. Could you imagine having a "first man" though? I think that would be so odd.

The First Gentleman? It wouldn't be that bad. Besides, it's Bill Clinton. He can raise a crowd just by showing up in California, much less actually speaking politically while there.

I don't think it would be a bad thing, I just think it would be really strange after years of first ladies.

Then it'll be a while before you're prepared for "Mr. President and The First Gentleman." Yay for dragging homosexuality into every single thread.

You guys are making it seem like I'm not ready for it. I don't care what the sexuality or whatever is for the president, I just think it is a change. I'm not against it, I'm just saying it would be different, which it would be. Surely you can say that is a valid statement.

That would be interesting besides the fact that she would be the first woman to ever run for president (A woman once did run for vice president but lost) she is the wife of the imfamous Bill Clinton but almost anyone would be better than Bush but I think the candidates have already been picked for election 2004 and George Bush is trying to get re-elected against Howard Dean for the Democratic party. Well if she where to run for election 2007 I think she might have a chance depending on how good of a job Howard Dean does after he is president.

she runs in 2008/12 (depending on 04), bob graham of florida as the VP (unless he is on the ticket in 04, but then a midwestern democrat)
Good chance of getting elected?-Probly
she wins... no republican (as of yet) has emerged to succeed bush... although ridge, santorum, and frist have had their names thrown around... but rige is pro-choice so that will hurt him BIG TIME, santorums comments about sodomy law being struck down leads to incest and such (despite it technically being true) and being from PA would be surprising, bill frist is sen maj leader but hasnt been around long enough to really be a strong presence yet
Good chance of getting shot by an asassin?-Hopefully
yeah thats it... hope another human being gets shot just cuz you disagree with her... then anyone says the slightest comment about bush sucking and you call them un-patriotic...
you are just scared obvioulsy that she will win, because she would and you will have to sit through 8 years of liberal leadership... god fucking forbid

Obviously you are just another one of those clowns in here that can't take a joke at all. No I don't really want to see Hillary dead. I JUST DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO SIT THROUGH ANOTHER 8 YEARS OF CLINTON LIBERAL LEADERSHIP. Actually Hillary already served her eight years. Bill pretty much sat around getting head from his interns. So it would be Hillary's third and fourth term. She pretty much ran the show on Bill's first two terms.

That must be a tough snowball, as she's leading the 2004 Presidential choice polls for Democrats and she's not even RUNNING.

Perhaps I need to clarify: She's HOT - Meaning, I think she's good looking for a 50+ year old; She's not a PUNK-ASS TOTALITARIAN WAR-MONGERING REPUBLICAN - namely, she's not George Bush or George Bush junior (same diff'), and Hilary is also about 8 million times smarter than either of those two 1-term losers; SHE'S GOT MY VOTE - meaning, should she run she would DEFINITELY have my vote. Also, I think she would be associated with Bill Clinton politically, who was immensely popular. Further, she would be an historic choice as the first woman president, and in a vulgar sexist sense, people might want a tough woman as president to "heal" the nation and get its "house" back in order after war-hawk, cowboy George Bush has messed it up and done all the "dirty work" abroad. There you go, H-Dawg spellin' it out for y'all. Later.

Well, she'd probably do well in the Primary, but I think she would get a beatdown in the General. It really doesnt matter who she runs against, I just dont think our country is ready to elect a woman President yet.

I think she definitely stands a good chance; she's still maintaining a strong presence in the public eye and is one of the most well-known democrats.
Personally, I think she's very smart for staying out of 2004, simply because her "lack of experience" would be an Achilles heel at this point. Serving more terms as a Senator will help her political credibility and give her more first-hand experience, rather than relying solely on the former First Lady status.
If we do have to endure Bush another 4 years, especially with his complete lack of attention to the economy and other domestic problems, I think Hillary could leverage the "Clinton years" to remind everyone how well things went during her husband's administration. That could be the most potent weapon in the '08 election (if she does run, of course).

I dont think that she would be able to win the election anytime soon. In my oppinion as she is a women people will look for any excuse to reject her. Her inexperence will be the first of it. There are many men out there that just think a women couldnt handle a "mans job".
