Bullshit, they do not give aspirin for pain after surgery.

Just get a prescription for painkillers that isn't high, and it will have the same dulling, but not crippling, effect as pot. The best drug for recovery is no drug.

;
Pot is not crippling you silly ass.
Any perscription drug that you take for pain has other adverse effcts on your body.
Besides the possiblitiy of becoming addicted to opiates (which are the pain inhibiting structure of these drugs) You are damaging internal organs like your liver & kidney's, not to mention what these factory created substances do to your digestive system.

You sucked up the pain ...right. a couple of aspirins, LOl,Lol right.

Until someone has removed a chunk of bone from an area of muscle mass that it was driven over & around to, until you have 2 long thin pins & a 6 inch plate screwed into the bones & the 2 surgical incissions with more than 40 staples in each SCREAMING at your central nervous system of the damage that has been done when you wake in recovery

LOL ,a couple of aspirins, Fuck Off.

If it was legal everyone would get it and it would kill the work ethic of workers cause they would just be stoned all the time

Right, because alcohol killed the work ethic, due to people just being drunk all the time, oh wait, no it didn't.

Not to mention that fact that over time pot kills short term memory

Though I personally think it should be legal (so gangs would have one less thing to smuggle, think prohibition area, something illegal is a lot more dangerous than legal. This would also eradicate it being mixed in with more dangerous drugs and overall making it safer and saving lives). Marijuanna is more dangerous than alcohol. Having a bottle of beer once one day causes no damage (and actually good for you, according to wikipedia). Smoking one joint of marijuanna causes minor damage to the lungs and brain and worst of all, it can live in a man's testicles for up to eight years and cause birth defects. That can never happen by drinking one glass of beer.

The problem with having 1 beer,is it can usually only happen if there is only 1 beer available.
As to your defect comment, both my daughters are fine & doing well. Did you know that people are born with birth defects every day, & most of those parents can even spell marijuanna, not to mention they have never touched it.
But lets just bleeeeep over that, wouldn't want to confuse anyone.

Like pretty much everyone else in this thread, I am for the legalization of marijuana. It is a harmless drug demonized by greedy, money-grabbing, racist corporate pigs. Marijuana and its sibling-plant, hemp, have a myriad of medical, practical and recreational uses.

Unlike most people in this thread, I highly doubt that marijuana or hemp will be legalized any time soon. The reason they were made illegal in the first place was profit. Through a joint effort of the famous William Randolph Hearst (Orson Wells' inspiration for Citizen Kane, as well as a man heavily invested in the pulp industry and who was being financially cripple by cannabis), Andrew Mellon (Chairmen of the Mellon Banks (the source of income for Dupont, a corporation also suffering at the hands of hemp and also with vast holdings in the pulp industry) and the U.S. Treasury Secretary at the time) and Harry Anslinger (The man Mellon appointed commissioner of the federal bureau of narcotics). This tyrannical trio began a crusade against the miracle plant that is cannabis. At first they said, that when smoked, the drug made people violent and evil monsters, with Hearst publishing endless multitudes of stories centered around cannabis-caused violence, Anslinger reading mostly stories from Hearst's newspaper before congress and Mellon pushing for laws against cannabis. Eventually, public and political opinions began to sway and eventually cannabis was made illegal.

Now, the pulp industry is so profitable that it will be nearly impossible to rid ourselves of it and replace it with cannabis. It has acquired such a foothold in modern economics that I wouldn't doubt it if it super-glued its foot to the ground. If cannabis were legalized, many of the big corporations politicians receive their money from would go bankrupt. And we wouldn't want that would we?

marijuana is, paradoxically, classified in Schedule I
requirements of schedule I:
(A) The drug or other substance has high potential for abuse.
(B) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
(C) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.

so u have to wonder.. what are the REAL reasons for it's ciminalization?

another drug wrongfully criminalized,
Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which is found in small quantities in the human brain but is pharmacologically active in larger quantities.
DMT is produced naturally by the human brain, its the chemical that causes u to dream.
i wonder why its illegal? hmmm..

Weed is like Cuban Cigars, it's a money thing.

Marijuana is a weed, hence the name weed. It can be grown anywhere, so it is almost impossible to market it. No market no taxing it.

Ciggerets are very dangerous, but that isnt to say that everyone using it will be harmed by it, but most do.

Ciggerets will never be illigal, at least not in our life time. It makes too much money, the government loves it.

Once they find a way to tax marijuana, there will be marijunana joints at the super market.

Hemp, which comes from the non addictive part of marijuana, was illigalized because a long while back, a big business that was of paper saw hemp was a threat because it was better quality then his paper, so he got some money out to the government to illigalize hemp.

Hemp is saposed to be more durrable then normal fabric too. But it comes from weed, and weed cant be taxed.

Now if the governemnt could find a way to tax and make a big profit off of heroin, then heroin would be legal.

It's all about money. The government is full of people who basically are in it for themselves. They want more money and more power, and if that means hurtting the American citizens, they will, and blame it on others.

It's cruel, but its a cruel world.

I live in Denver, Colorado, and in the city of Denver it's now LEGAL to posess an ounce or less of marijuana within city limits. Yes, legal to posess marijuana for recreational use. State police can still bust you, but the DPD can't do shit.

In a recent statewide poll (unfortunately, not an official vote) 55% of people questioned said it should be legalized. At least there is some progression happening.

Anyone who thinks that marijuana inhibits the ability to function normally is wrong. I smoke the shit all the time, and you know what it does? It makes you hungry, it makes you find shit funnier, and it kind of puts you on auto-pilot. You do everything normally, it just takes less paying of attention to do the exact same job, performance, etc. Marijuana is also unique in that if you get high, then have a reason to want to not be high, you can become sober through a small effort of will. Yes, you can shrug it off if you need to.

Remember prohibition in the twenties? Remember what it created? The first organized crime syndicates in America. Well it's the same idea. It's illegal, wrongfully, and people want it, so they create systems of organization for the cultivation, acquiration and distribution of it. The fact that it's illegal to do so creates tension among these groups, which leads to violence and the degredation of society. We basically have police busting people for doing nothing to protect the interests of drug companies and other corporations.

If it were legal, there would be no worries, and nobody'd be ending lives over it. The government could derive tax revenue from it, patients dealing with things like chemotherapy and multiple sclerosis could benefit from it's soothing and appetite inducing effects, and your average joe can relax at home after a hard day at work much as one would enjoy a beer or two after work. Except there's no hangover, potential for physical addiction, or negative physical side-effects.

People claim that marijuana causes cancer. No. Any university study from within the last 5 years will claim otherwise. There is invariably the build up of tar and residue in the lungs, but as opposed to cigarette smoke, your body can metabolize it to an extent and the comparative damage is very low.

Anyway, the health risks should be moot in the lawmaking process, as the only reason to illegalize it is that it would be detrimental to society, which it's not. In the end, the government is just keeping us from one more thing people want for no good reason.

this is why corporations should never get involved in government/politics, but they're all up in government, holding high executive jobs, office jobs, everywhere.. its ridiculous! dick cheney was CEO of Haliburton Company and now he is our vice president

Note: Halliburton major business segment is the Energy Services Group (ESG). ESG provides technical products and services for oil and gas exploration and production. It has been at the forefront of several media and political controversies in relation to its work for the U.S. Government, its political ties, and its corporate ethics.

Isnt marijuana a gateway drug. At first its great, but overtime you need a little more to get high? Or some people been using it for a awhile and want something with a bit more potency.

It will probably be legalized but then there will be a minimum age like 18 or 21. Then when they hit that age, they are going to overdue it like drinking. Drinking and driving is already the highest cause of car accidents/deaths right. Not everyone is going to abuse it, but many are going to just like alcohol.
When those people hit the age, they are gonna go crazy with the weed. Like when you 21, for some reason, it means you're supposed to go drinking. And I say drinking, and not "get a drink" because usually they had drinks before they were 21 so its really nothing new.

There will be a lot of people that abuse it then go driving. Its a tough decision, just because there are too many people that can control themselves. I read other posts and people make weed sound like kumbaya time. Come home after work and get high. Yeah, thats one way of looking at it, but dont forget about the abusers. Because there will be abusers.

Cigarettes are legal but dont have an effect on you so that you cant drive or something. Now imagine people, the idiots with their window down driving 40mph when its 10 degrees out so they can smoke.. now doing it with weed. And cops will be stopping everyone thats smoking while driving because how aren't they going to know which is being smoked

Yeah, its gonna get legalized. And on the news we're going to hear more about weed related car accidents and others.

It wouldn't be a gateway drug if it were off the black market. The reason people take the step beyond it is that eventually they'll come across something harder in their dealings with marijuana on the illegal market, and it's presented in the same way, a fun time, and other people are doing it.

If marijuana were legal and sold by reputable retailers, nobody'd be going to illegal drug dealers to get their weed and those dealers wouldn't have the opportunity to push the other drugs on people.

News flash: Weed doesn't cause accidents. That's just one more bit of government propaganda bullshit. Yes, it changes your perception a bit, but studies and vast amounts my own personal experience being in a car with a high driver show that high drivers are MORE cautious. They make more of a point of making SURE what they're doing is safe, because generally they're a tiny bit paranoid.

If anything, I tend to think that as long as it's not your first few times smoking it, you drive better high. I know I do.

When those people hit the age, they are gonna go crazy with the weed. Like when you 21, for some reason, it means you're supposed to go drinking. And I say drinking, and not "get a drink" because usually they had drinks before they were 21 so its really nothing new.

You can overdose on alcohol, you CANNOT EVER overdose on weed. NOBODY has ever died directly because of weed, or even had any major negative side effects that weren't the product of allergies.

You'd have to put every single cent you earn towards buying weed to be abusing it. No matter HOW much you smoke, if you stop then about a week later ALL cognitive function and previous ability is restored. ALL of it. Alcohol can cause permanent liver, kidney and brain damage. Weed will never harm you unless you're allergic or asthmatic.

Again, you're a bit misconcieved on the profundity of the effects of weed on your driving skills. Only total, TOTAL noobs would have a hard time driving high, and believe me, if someone is gonna have a hard time driving and they're somehow that high, they make more than sure that they will NOT be driving that night. I've never once seen one of my friends drive when they were uncomfortable about it and high.

Paranoia saves lives. People think of the paranoia borne of smoking weed as bad, but it's really good, it keeps your mind on making sure you're safe and sound.

Yeah, its gonna get legalized. And on the news we're going to hear more about weed related car accidents and others.

We're going to hear about accidents where the drivers were high, although that'll probably have little to do with the accident itself, and hear the reporters villifying weed and attributing the accident to it in every single case possible. You have to consider that a lot of the information we get is flat out misinformation.

Funniest argument ever. Not sure if it's serious or not, but you should be aware that there are 107 calories in a jigger of scotch.

Yeah. After the drugs used in the OR were worn off, I used aspirin. I mean, maybe I woulda lit a blunt if I had more serious, more painful surgery, but I just didn't need it.

I'm sure weed would fix that...

LOL ,a couple of aspirins, Fuck Off.

Cannabinol, the active compound in THC, is equipotent to aspirin, which produces an increase in the pain threshold about one third of morphine's.
source (pg. 170)
Morphine produces an eighty to ninety percent increase in pain threshold.
source (pg. 544)

The only thing marijuana has going for it is that it reduces nausea.

It can be what?

Marijuana is actually addciting. I've found myself hooked on it for about the last two months now.

I'm not saying its anywhere near as addicting as heroin, of course not, but its an addiction of sorts.

I guess marijuana itself isn't the addiction, more so the high.

Look the only problem with it is that, in case it was legalized, there will be as much marijuana users as tobaco smokers, so what do we get?

A whole load of high people rotting their boddies cause their brains can think enymore, ergo economy gets fucked, so my point is that:

1.-Actual society needs more consiouness about the actual effects of Weed, screw addiction, have you ever got high? Its like suddenly getting retarded,

2.-It might screw a bit drug smuggling, but smuglers will always find a way to sell illegal stuff

3.-Its way better to keep it illegal, less people get affected, and economy survives, and we can still get weed, but if you are too lazy about searching for dealers, you havent got enough will get high

Ohh and Kids say no to drugs!!!

Marijuana doesn't make you any stupid, or less capable of doing normal things, it just makes you realize they aren't worth the fucking effort.
