I dun like how everyone is using gloss as their defult texture I mean like, on some, It looks great, but on others-using a textured finish paint or leaving it as it is, would probably be the best decision.
I like the originality of most of these, but some of the things used should be seriously out of the question.
Also (im the harbinger of pessimisism (lol words)) I'm saddend to see noone has gone all out and done something completely crazy/awesome like putting little LEDs for eyes or adding glow in the dark paint to theirs... *ahem* not that those coming is outta the question ( today it seems I'm also very arrogentistic (lol more made up words))

hey buddy, I was the only neggitive poster, all others where either posting about how lame them's are or stuffs, I can see how you can get defencive, considering your's looks like you dipped it in coats of varnish, but people are diciding that they should do the same because everyone is raving about how awesome it hides your mistakes, when in reality, the coat is placed in unusal places (like hair) creating an unnatural and un'good' look to it.
What I want is for people to create on their own creativity and find awesome ways of doing things-not just plastering their piece of work with a cheap gloss and calling it a day

Wow, I'm totally impressed by what everyone has been doing with their pseudo-munnys. I'm rethinking my decision to let the simplicity of mine speak for itself, since everyone's are so elaborate and amazing...

My reasoning for ditching the gigantic munny is that .. for something thats so expensive would I really want to then 'deface' it with my own design knowing that its so expensive and rare.

Part of the charm of these little wzl's is that they are so cheap and you could just get another one if you felt like it.

Important Post

Just so we are super clear on the deadline... I am physically taking everything i have on Saturday Dec 15th(weather permitting) this means i absolutely have to have it in my posession by then.

Wether that means you overnight ship it on Dec 13th or you mail it off tmrw that is up to you to decide. From my vast experience with the mail system. If you are in Europe you should definately mail it by Dec 3. Customs takes anywhere from 5-10 days to clear and with the holiday season upon us you need to take into account that it will take its time to move to the US.

If you are in the US, you could probably wait until dec 7th to ship it out before you will have to consider more expensive shipping methods.

IF:

- you bought your own and dont wish to have it live in the NG office you'll have to provide 3 photos, front, back and a detail shot. Remember that your whole 3d project is being based on 3 2d photos.. so you definately want something very flattering.

- I sent you one for free you have been msg'ed the mailing return address... i made it my effort to order a wzl, go through the pain of absorbing the costs and getting it to you in a timely manner and i expect you to return it in a timely manner out of respect to the project and my time and effort.

Please pm me if you need the mailing address.

Since my semester ends the 14th I can technically go home then but if you aren't trekking out to the NG office until the 15th I can probably stay. I'd like to win some money hahaha. I liked the money prizes much better, because the winner could use that money to buy a munny, and a couple other things if he'd like hahaha. I dunno that's just me. Is there a limit to how many WZL's you can submit to the contest?

A lesson to all, acrylic paints are not fade-able on this surface, do not try it. I found out the hard way, I'm still trying to fix the resulting mess. Fuck.

Okay the base coat is finished as well as the top hat I made for him. I should finish painting him tonight and tomorrow night, and then spraying him with clear gloss on thursday. Thereofre, you'll have it in time, Luis.

Theoretically it wont affect your chances if you decide not to send it over. I already gave instructions on what to do if you arent going to be sending yours in.
Realistically i think it may be tough to beat out the ones that are like able to be judged 'in the flesh'. But thats not to say its not possible by any means.

Um at the NG office i assume they will join the other keepsakes tom has built up over the years ... err im not sure what else exactly you can do with them.

I dunno the idea of having it in the office was merely because i thought some people would want to leave a mark on newgrounds beyond a few posts and flash movies *shrug*

By the way, rather than going crazy waiting for my damn WZLs to show up, I got some cheapie knock of Barbies at the craft store and tried painting them. This is what I have learned:

1. Primer is awesome! And it makes little girl dollies look super bad ass in grey!

2. If the primer can says dries in 12 minutes, set a timer. 12 minutes in your head is no where close to the real 12 minutes and coating wet primer with another coat is bad juju.

3. My idea of properly ventilated is vastly inferior to Krylon's idea of properly ventilated. I was blowing primer grey boogers for the past two days.

I really like the 5 prize idea. GRanted, a giany munny is pretty damn cool, but so are little munnies.

Also, I like the brush strokes vs. varnish discussion. I got two clear coats, gloss and matte. I'll try them on the dolls before I give my soon-to-arrive WZL the final coat. I think the coat is needed to protect the paint, but a matter finish might add depth.

This should look pretty cool when it's finished. The model is looking quite nice, too.

@ luis-if your packaging is really good, like say, what SFB is trying to do, will you favor those ones?
does elaborate packaging count for anything or are you just marking the wzls?
