{Ok'd by Seven Star; if the vast majority of Poli seems to be against this I will take this as a "veto", and ask the topic to be locked}
KK; real simple. THIS IS TEH OFFICIAL RON PAUL TOPIC. It worked with Bush, so it worked here. This thread is made in the hopes that the various Ron Paul topics will be united into a single thread in which the people of NG Poli can gather and have an intelligent discussion of the man, his actions, and his effects on America.
For those of you who do not know, Ron Paul is a Gynecologist who has run for multiple successful bids for a seat on the House of Representatives, representing Texas's 14th and 22nd congressional districts. He's a failed Presidential Candidate running under the Libertarian party, and hopes to win the Republican Primaries for the 2008 Presidential elections. Ron Paul has won the respect of his peers from a long, distinguished career in politics, and has gained praise for a consistent voting record whilst in Congress. He has voted consistently to remove Federal Income Tax, abolish most government agencies, He opposes the Federal Reserve, and shows support for withdrawing from NATO and the United Nations. Ron Paul is Pro-Life, and believes that States should determine abortion legallity. He is Anti-Patriot act and Anti-War on drugs.
If you would please, refrain from making Ron Paul threads after this, and attempt to limit Ron Paul discussions outside of this thread when convenient. Please follow all NG rules, and please refrain from flaming (personally insulting) other users for sharing their thoughts with us.

This gives me good reason not to vote for him.

Haha, whoops. Idunno why I called you SevenStar, I havn't talked to him in AGES, since he got me teh illegal flash (don't worry; it's gone now). Is the SS even still going?
There is this mod called SevenSEIZE, who told you via PM that it's a good idea, but maybe you should ask for opinions in the poli lounge before making the thread.
Yeh, What can I say, I didn't. I was going too, but then I noticed that a lot of the people making the threads weren't regulars, but 500-or-less posters.
Anyway, like I said, if I'm overwhelmed with people saying no, or if this idea is totally ineffective and just turns out to be "just-another-Ron-Paul-topic", I'll request it be locked.
Did I do wrong?

I hate these official <insert item> topics. They just get circled with vultures repeating the same shit over and over again. Page after page of every attempt at a new thought shot down to add a rotting carcas to the steaming pile of shit that is the thread.

When one things about it, is there that much of a difference between a politician and a gynecologist? The only other occupation closer would be one in proctology

Ron Paul is a schmuck who shouldn't be voted for, for the following reasons:
Despite his claims of a consistant pro-life record, he has voted against 3 different incarnations of Lacey's Law. While recognizing that the one legitimate goal of gov't is to protect life, he votes against legislation that does just that.
He is just too damned stupid to compromise. He votes against vouchers, claiming that the government shouldn't subsidize education. All well and good, I suppose. But vouchers are a step to putting control back in the parents hand, and are a step in the direction he wants. He very much has an everything or nothing attitude.
He consistantly votes against free trade agreements.
He's a wacky conspiracy theorist who believes that we have no right to use the military to take out Iranian soldiers who are killing our troops.
Recently, he has become a huge pork project spender.
That's a good list to start with.

You my friend, are a fool. Perhaps you should pop those zits, get back to your PS2 and let the grownups deal with politics. Let me guess, you're on welfare or some other government funded entitlement and the thought of someone like Ron Paul running this country scares the hell out of you because you might eventually have to take care of yourself and quit depending on the government. This is my theory based on your ridiculous posts about Ron Paul.

Ya'know some people in the United States have to be on welfare because of a disability. For example my brother's friend's mom has a hearing disability. I would alos like to say that I don't like Ron Paul because he comes off as a racist by excepting money from racists and saying that Lincoln shouldn't of gone to war. So my theory on Ron Paul and supporters of him are racist.
Fuck you.

Well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I'd like to reiterate that there is nothing wrong with being on welfare because of a disability. Thats why it was created. It's the illegal aliens, welfare moms having 15 kids and down right lazy ass people that make welfare the problem it is today. As far as calling Ron Paul a racist, that really goes to show how immature you are. Did you even listen to everything he said? He said he would've ended slavery by buying the slaves and setting them free instead of going to war and losing 600,000 lives. I assume you're black from your previous post. Did you realize that Ron Paul receives more campaign money from black people than any other candidate? Your rationalization of him keeping money from racists making him a racist is a poor one. Would you rather those hatemongers get their money back? Listen to the man speak for gods sake. Nothing he stands for is racist at all.

I don't think Ron Paul (and you) gets what the civil war was more about, it was more about how the south wanted to become a confederacy. It was partially slavery too. So I don't know exactly what Ron Paul is thinking when he says that Lincoln shouldn't have gone to war with the south. I am guessing that he thinks it was all about slaves. Please don't tell me that the civil war was just about slavery, it was more than that. Without that war we would not have the south. He is a complete dumbass for making that statement.
On the exceptance of the money from the racists, I would rather have those racist have their money back because its not Paul's to keep, its not right. It may go to racists but atleast its not going to someone who is more powerful.
Fuck you.

At the moment when I hear ron paul on the Republican Debate and other speeches he makes sense. We don't need all these taxes, The IRS, the especially not The Federal Reserve. Honestly he is the only one I see at the moment that can bring America back.

OK, so to recap.
I posted a list of things wrong with Ron Paul, and you called me a jackass.
Then I was told to grow up.
Gee, how to respond to an ad hominim rebuttal of my factual post....How about, piss off?

No one worth their salt is anything but.

The imaginary liberal doctrine made to give the finger to Christians.

He supports no such thing.

Well, gee, if your list was all that was "wrong" with Paul...anyone with an IQ over 30 would vote for him.

The first two are fairly mainstream, and things I happen to agree with. The second one is debatable, and I've never heard him voice support for the last one. I'm not about to vote for him (I was a Romney guy before he left) but I don't see him as being stuck with "fundie idiots" as his voter base.
