Burn in Hell, Rev. Phelps!!
As you may or may not know, "mr. Rogers" passed away not too long ago. However, the man behind godhatesfags.com, Reverend Fred Phelps seems to think that the death of Mr. Rogers is a blessing to the world.

Thats pretty sickening, i mean, hes free to hate gays, but he shouldnt act on it, or force it on other people.
How come christianity is almost always associated to homophobia?
i think the better question is why is christianity always associated with unequality and dislike of freedom? I blame people taking literal interpretations of the bible, and how most christianity is basically an acceptance of unequality.

The bible also said to be fruitful and multiply.
Seriously though, I did this kind of post before just to give people the notion on where Christians and Catholics are coming from. Not to say who's right and who's wrong. Although, it was misinterpreted that way. I never been that good at getting people to understand my points at times.
This just in: Priests has been excused because the bible never said anything about "man not laying with boy".
Got sidetracked there. I read opinion pieces done by readers for a local newspaper. One reader had the opinion against homosexuality quoting that verse in the bible. It was long before someone responded with a few more verses from the same book in the bible that Christians disobey. In the same book of the bible that talks against homosexuality, it also talks against eating pork and cutting/shaving your hair.
Selective bible studies? Hmmmmm.

well, like was said earlier...people have the rate to dislike gays if that's they're belief...but heralding someone's death as a blessing...that to me is just wrong and a complete lack of basic decency. So that is my objection right there, but I also disagree with people who think being homosexual is wrong or immoral, but that's just my opinion on the subject.

Phelps is like the KKK. If people just stopped giving them the attention and headlines they crave, they'd pretty much go away.

Odd. I didn't like Mr. Rogers, but I agree with what the Reverend is saying.

It's not. If you draw your conclusions based on fringe groups which make up a tiny minority of the whole, then you're bound to get an incorrect picture.
I could focus on Osama and other radical-fringe muslims and then say that Islam is almost always associated with terrorism, but it wouldn't accurate either.

Pat Robertson is just the same, wanting to wage his Christian version of Jihad against the Supreme Court and any organization that shows the slightest bit of compassion at the idea of recognizing homosexuals as actual human beings.

Because the bible commands you to murder gays. And claims it's an abomination. Even though it's a birth trait.

If all evidence indicates the author's intent was to be literal, I think it's absurd not to take it literally. I also think in this case it's absurd to obey the laws, literal or not.

Yeah, I know it's a very small portion of christians, most of them live in the South and fly their confederate flag high and proud but it's interesting that you brought up Osama and Islam.
Isn't it odd how it wasn't a Muslim Cleric or a Buddhist Monk that made those homophobic comments? It's not just on this occasion, I mean on every occasion. After all, there is no Buddhahatesfags.com or Allahhatesfags.com.

Your right dude, that fag phelp's a true ass-hole! Mr. Rogers was a great man. I could bet you he's gay and doesn't want anyone to know, so he mascurades as a homophobe (which he is) so no one will think he's gay. It just gets me so fucking pissed of to see guys like that. I can't speak for everyone, but I would certainly like to take a 2x4 to the back of his fucking head!

Actually the Hanabalite sect of Islam and many others do exact severe punishments for homosexuality. Many of them approve of murder of homosexuals as well. The Qur'an condemns homosexuality as well, and since their interpretation of Sodom was very similar to the Christian interpretation, only swapping out YHWH for Allah, then it's safe to say they can come up with evidence that Allah thinks homosexuals (even whole cities of them (if you believe that shit) should be killed. Where the Qur'an is kind of mixed on what the punishment for homosexuals should be, the Hadiths (quotes of Muhammad (Disgrace be upon him)) make it clear how the founder of Islam felt about homosexuals:
[Sunan Abu Dawood 38:4448]
If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death.
You may note that since the hadiths are all supposed quotes, there is a lot of conjecture on any points made by various hadiths, and that's one of the main reasons there are so many splits in Islam. But all of them condemn homosexuality, just some worse than others. And where our Nazi Christians have shit like godhatesfags, at least we have laws to keep them in place. In Iran, (according to Al Fatiha, a group of really confused Islamic people who are gay and stay Muslim even though they admit their own holy texts condemns them for doing so), over 4,000 gays have been publically executed since 1979.

Islam is a much harsher religion in doctrine and, in much of the Middle East, in practice. You don't see any websites about it because internet usage is very low in these places, much lower than in the West. There's a certain extremist fringe percentage just about everywhere, but those in the predominantly Christian west are more likely to make a website because they have easier access to the internet. It's simply a matter of probability. If the socioeconomic and technological conditions were reversed, I think you would see an Allah-hates-fags.com

Its pretty hypocritical to use profanity and call yourself a christian. But, like all religions, christianity is just a crutch that people use to lean on when they are too weak to face their problems.

Really depends on interpretation of scripture. The bible itself uses "unclean" language, so if used as an example, I guess I could see where Christians could get away with being hypocrites.

Bingo. However, I cleaned up the house and that newspaper opinion went out and I lost the exact verses in that book. I noticed you stated that you read the bible front to back a few times so you'd know more than me on what I brought up.

Yeah:
Condemnation of gays:
[Leviticus 20:13] If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Not only condemns homosexuality, but gives it a death penalty.
Shaving your head:
[Leviticus 19:27] Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
The general interpretation of this is that this was a command to the Levites to avoid mimicing pegan ceremonies or rituals, one of which was certain styles of hair and beard.
Condemnation of Pork:
[Leviticus 11:7] And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
[8] Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.
A lot of the laws in Leviticus were also reiterated in Exodus, based on their particular emphasis during the journey.

You're missing that Leviticus also forbids wearing of buttoned shirts (or something retardedly similar), sowe're all headed to Hell anyway.
By the way, we had this argument when the CofE wanted to elevate a gay bishop, and the whole fucking religion was split on the issue, before they decided it was better to have bishops that only bugger choirboys, rather than have consentual sex with adult men. Or something.
