I generally don't go searching through 150 pages to find all the topics that mods made saying that you will get banned for if you do something that isn't stated in the BBS rules.
So... I propose that a locked sticky thread should be made at the top of each forum stating temporary rules, or new permanent rules that mods can tell us their specific rules in, to remove a lot of confusion. How is a newb supposed to know that BBR gives 30 day bans for gay memes, something regulars can accept, but something that would potentially make newbs have a distaste for NG and potentially make them not come back?
Discuss. Post thoughts, if you disagree, say why.

Agreed the noobs need to lurk on teh ng more.

If mods can unlock the thread whenever they need to post, that would be good.

Brilliant idea.
Oh, and before anyone bitches about how it cannot be done, I have seen forums that prove otherwise.
yeh
threads about new rules hang out on the first page for a week or so-- that's enough for most people to see it. And if new people don't know about those rules, they'll learn.
Really? I think the rules are pretty self explanatory and easy to follow. If you think it's tough here, you clearly have not been to many other forums.
.
No lurk + blatant posting = ban. Teach you a lesson.
Mods don't make new rules- they, more like, elaborate on certain rules

Heh, one thing smartass. He said at the top of every forum, I don't think that'll be the first place a newb looks for rules.

Very few already read the rules. What's the difference going to be when, instead of one, there are two sets of rules that they have to read?
The best way for a new user to learn is to make a mistake and learn from it.

Then that thread should be stickied. I bet you at least 80% of BBS users have never seen that topic.

That's a hell of a lot more than 20%. Also 900% of my statistics and your's are correct.

And 84,56% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
I don't even think "79%" of all BBS users have even read the rules, so if that many people read it it would help hell of a lot.
