Well,I'm not convinced,where did you idiots here that,oh yeah Mayans,you belive a mayan religion? Well anyway, mayans were like 700 years ago,they probably just ended their calander at 2012 because they won't be around then,now some1 prove somthing that makes sence!

Well only be aligned with our closests galaxy on that day, I forgot the name, but I'll post it later. The Mayans knew this, but however said it was the end of the world could have been right or wrong. By the way the Mayan were a astrological civilization, a very good one considering their technology.

the only reason people are getting excited over 2012 is because this guy who was incredibly close when predicting future events, said that world was going to end in 2012, and now people believe that.

You cant prove it, but it doesnt mean what alot of people think it means. It could mean anything along the lines of what they predicted.

The mayans predicted many things that came true, and predicted the appoccalypse at the year 2012, which is when their calendar ended. It's just a matter of beleif like religion.
