ah right. How come it's "einen" and not "ein"? I'm guessing it's something to do with habe being in there.

The '-en' ending is given to masculine nouns when they are direct objects.

Scheisse is the only word you need to know.

Or is it Scheiße? Damn, I forgot whether I need to use the ß.

<LordZeebmork> so basically, you would be okay with it if I got on my knees before I started

hmm so when would I use "ein" instead of "einen" in a sentence. I'm stil not entirely sure about how that works.

This website will help you out a lot in distinguishing the differences in the genders and their uses with different nouns :)

It's not needed, but may be used.

Thanks for restating what many others have said.

For a short insult say 'Fick dich!' (Fuck you) .

'Go fuck yourself' would also be 'Fick dich'!

It's the same but I use 'Scheiße'

I dont know if I can explain this in english but it's depending on the noun.

male noun: (the hamster / der hamster) 'ein hamster' but 'ich habe einen hamster'

female noun: (the rat / die ratte) 'eine Ratte' and 'ich habe eine ratte'

neutral noun: (the car / das auto) 'ein auto' and 'ich habe ein auto'

About the beginning on this past Summer, I was also trying to learn German by myself, too. While on the browsing for some help, I found this site:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/german/lj /

It has quite a few lessons in it. Hope this helps. :)

ah right I see. I was confused because in my book I had

der - ein
die - eine
das - ein

I thought it was strange ein was twice.

Yeah I googled a couple of German learning sites and that was one of them. It's pretty helpful, but I find it easier to be able to ask people questions instead of just read it for myself and end up getting stuff wrong without noticing

I'm kinda hoping to learn the basics of Spanish and French at some point. I already know abit of French from school too.

ok I found a list of words in my book and just want to check they're all right since it looks like I've made a fair few mistakes in my book.

list:
Ziemlich - Rather
Sehr - Very
Nicht - Not
Nicht sehr - Not very
Dick - Fat
Nett - Nice
Faul - Lazy
Fleißig - Hard working
Gemein - Nasty
Lustig - Funny
Dumm - Stupid
Sportlich - Sporty
Klug - Clever
Ernst - Serious
Schlank - Slim
Launisch - Moody
Alkoholisch - Alcoholic
