In this month's issue of Wired magazine there was an article about how to sell the different parts of your body for $46 million. A lot of the really expensive stuff you couldn't sell without dying, but some things like fluid and soft tissue you could make some serious cash from.
So what do you guys think, is selling off parts of your body or even things like your blood, ovaries, or sperm immoral?

If it's a question of morality then it really is up to each individual and by no means justified to regulate.
I think it's moral, but I wouldn't sell anything except for any natural emission that I don't have any use for.

I don't think so, and really, I see it as beneficial if it winds up in the hands of people who need it. I think it's perfectly fine and it's an individual choice, I say go for it.

i can see where a couple of thousand would be alright but thats ridiculous, sure it may help people but those people certainly dont get it at a reasonable price, it may help the person live but put them in the poor house ya know? i did see a kidney on ebay once for 55000 , thats just wrong in a way, why not donate like a self respecting human

Personally, I would GIVE it to someone in need. Its like them asking, "will you help me live?" It would be wrong to not help them. The selling aspect I think is wrong, in my opinion, but it boils down to supply and demand; along with moral decisions that the individual must make.

If I know that it will save someones life while keeping me alive and healthy, I'm for it.

I'd certainly sell bodily emissions. And if a female was going to get...the female equivalent of a vasectomy, then I would hope she'd sell her ovaries- a sterile woman would certainly appreciate it.
When I die, I'm donating it all anyways, so why not get a head start on it now?

Well, the important thing is what and how much, of course.

Fewels! Don't sell, LEASE! I can get a lump sum of money and lose a lifetime of kidney, or I can charge a handsome monthly rate, and then "repossess" my property if the contract is broken. That way I can have cash AND have a chance of getting my kidney back.
"Don't waste your money buying a kidney that depreciates the second you drive it off the lot, lease a kidney and have the option of having a variety of models!"

Because 2,000 years of "For God so loved the world" doesn't trump 1.2 million years of "Survival of the Fittest."

Would you need to hire "Repo Surgeons"?

If not careful, we could see the rise of organ thieves...they already exist, I think here in China. You get kidnapped, killed and your organs are sold for money.

Killed is a little excessive. Couldn't they knock them out, slice them open, take the organs, and leave them in a dark alley to rot?

Now I see why they worry/wonder about you! But, hey, if you can do it, WTF...why not right?!?

Depends on what the stuff is used for.. but I think that being able to sell parts of your body could be a terrible way of exploiting poor people... I'd be terrible if people got desparate enough so that they had to sell their own organs.

Mwa HA Ha! Silly, naive Ted-
You leave them in a seedy motel room, in a bathtub full of ice. Duh. :-P

I dont notice you people seeing to much of the other side of this
What about someone selling OTHER PEOPLES organs, "Hey see my son, hes about ripe, and hell we need the money"
This wont result in people selling off their own internal organs, just more stealing of organs

Read the above few posts =)
Leaving them in an alley to rot would still mean their dying, Ted_Easton. Just more slowly.
