Was trying to make a SpaceWar type thing a while back, but could never get the spaceship behavior right. But then I noticed something interesting about how it flew around. Added a string, some downward gravity and drag to it - and now I have a nifty kite flyer. Even came up with a speed indicator for it...

Oh yeah - almost forgot - it needs focus... And currently uses the A,W, & D keys for control. (Got a similar but dumbed down simultaneous 2 player one that uses the arrow keys in addition - if anyone wants to see.)

Thought of some ways to make it into a real game, but right now I'm not quite up to par to develop the AS-code to make it happen. (Maybe later, but who knows?) Not sure if anyone would care to have the .fla to make it into something based on those ideas (or something different even).

Anyhow here's some ideas I had for it:
Have a number of kites (lives) per round.
Kite also takes damage.
Get points for taking out crappy birds (pigeons, sparrows, gulls).
Lose points for taking out rare birds.
Large raptor birds can attack/damage kite.
Lose kite if damage meter runs out.
Harder rounds have trees, which automatically lose the kite.
Lose kite if speed maxes out for too long, take on damage at extended high speeds.
Require minimum kite speed for certain kills.
Maybe change speed guage to " string tension" guage, since that relates better to the kite flying experience. That would also make more sense from the potential damage aspect.
Get bonuses (lives, higher max speed, or damage restored) for points during round, or bonuses for hitting special items.
