Roberto "THE WEAK LINK" Mancini's expression when Balotelli pulled a goal back against Sunderland says it all. He was like: "Whatever, we are going to lose anyway."
The season is OVER as far as the title race is concerned.

Sheesh, change the record already. As much as I'd love to see City pull it out of the hat, it looks like United have it wrapped up. Hopefully their days of dominance are drawing to a close- I still think this is a poor United side that will only wiin the leage due to a lack of competition. Their poor performance in Europe doesn't lie.

Champions League semi finals are coming together now, and it looks odds on for Bayern vs Real, and slightly less odds on for Barce vs Chelsea. That looks like an all Spanish final for me, but then stranger things have happened, and even Barce wouldn't fancy playing Bayern on home turf in the final. They have improved dramatically in the last few years in line with a resurgent German national side. The days of English dominance were short lived.

Look at the players that Real Madrid and Barcelona have, they will continue to dominant the CL in the near future.

Wow, games every day for a week! I'm going to throw all of my predictions together for this one as there is no obvious gap in the fixtures.

Swansea 1-2 Newcastle

Sorry to curse your score DoD, but I agree. So as its Newcastle we are now both wrong!

Sunderland 1-2 Tottenham

Spurs are turning themselves around now. Sunderland have nothing to play for.

Bolton 1-0 Fulham

Fulham remain awful away from home. Bolton are on a surge.

Chelsea 3-1 Wigan

Chelsea are playing much better. Wigan CAN'T win another one in a row!

Liverpool 3-0 Villa

No idea with this, but Liverpool are due a performance.

Norwich 1-2 Everton

Everton playing well and tough to beat. Norwich on a slide now that they are safe.

WBA 0-1 Blackburn

Blackburn will want it more.

Stoke 2-1 Wolves

Wolves remain awful.

Man U 3-1 QPR

Man Utd will not lose at home, no matter how good QPR have been lately.

Arsenal 1-1 Man City

Another two points dropped, game over.
Hereford 0-3 Plymouth. Seven points clear of the relegation zone.

And on to the second set...

Everton 2-1 Sunderland

And so the streak continues.

Newcastle 2-0 Bolton

Surely Newcastle can win this and make one of my predictions right at long last. Surely...

Tottenham 2-0 Norwich

Norwich won't get many more points this season.

Aston Villa 1-1 Stoke

Villa sinking towards the drop zone...

Fulham 1-1 Chelsea

Fulham are tough to beat at home, even for the top sides, which Chelsea are not.

Blackburn 1-1 Liverpool

Blackburn clawing their way from the relegation zone.

Man City 4-0 West Brom

Too little too late

Wigan 0-3 Man Utd

And so United continue to stay clear of the chase.

Wolves 0-2 Arsenal

Will Wolves win another point in the Premier League this season?

QPR 2-0 Swansea

A must win game for QPR with few winnable games left.
Plymouth 2-1 Aldershot. All but safe from relegation with a third win on the bounce for the first time in YEARS...

Phew, that is a lot of predictions for one week!

Week 29 results (02/04/12)
Rank // Correct Results // Perfect Scores // Weekly points // Overall points // Best Weekly Score // Name // Rank Change

01. // 7 // 2 // 11 // 223 // 13 // DannyIsOnFire 0
02. // 6 // 1 // 08 // 206 // 15 // Sentio 0
03. // 4 // 0 // 04 // 184 // 13 // ChrisLovejoy 0

10. // 0 // 0 // 00 // 092 // 09 // Jonny 0
11. // 0 // 0 // 00 // 027 // 15 // tyler2513 0

Weekly Highest Score: 11 (DannyIsOnFire)
Highest Score all time: 15 (Sentio - Week 12, Gagsy & tyler2513 - Week 14)
Weekly average score: 8
Weekly average highest all time: 9.0 (week 10)

So DannyIsOnFire gets the top score yet again, beating Sentio's 8 by 3 and extending his lead to 17 points. I got the second best score of the week, proving that crazy predictions are just as valid (maybe even slightly better) than sane ones. ChrisLovejoy got the lowest score of the week, with 4, but I was using mostly his predictions sent to me weeks ago, so they weren't exactly recent. Everybody else scored 8, meaning that this is our highest average score for 10 weeks.

I had best get some sleep now so I can face all the football predictions for the upcoming week.

A prediction the day after the game and it is still wrong... oh dear!

Amazingly for what I suspect is the first time all season I did manage to predict a Newcastle win though, despite their being totally dominated from start to finish. Better late than never!

Spurs look asleep at the moment, bit of a dull game from what I have seen (though admittedly I've been painting our bathroom at the same time, so not exactly paying full attention).

A typically awful refereeing decision at Old Trafford isn't helping their cause either- first Chelsea get two lucky goals, and now United have the game gift wrapped by an even worse decision today. I didn't spot the offside, but the dive was blindingly obvious on TV before any replays simply because the United player threw himself into the air before going down, when the QPR player wasn't even close to him!

Crap referees are a blight on the game that is getting more and more frustrating as a neutral who was looking forward to a good game this afternoon and is now being let down by an inevitable one sided drubbing. Will he be punished for being so inept? Nope, they will probably just ban Derry for three games and pretend that it was a clear pen.

Well, you shouldn't blame the ref for being Fergie's sex slave. After all, Fergie is one sexy 69-year-old.
At this point, it won't matter as Robert "THE WEAK LINK" Mancini has already waved the white flag.

Probably best for me to split the prediction results up into two separate posts.

Week 29 results (02/04/12)

Rank // Correct Results // Perfect Scores // Weekly points // Overall points // Best Weekly Score // Name // Rank Change

01. // 5 // 0 // 05 // 228 // 13 // DannyIsOnFire 0
02. // 4 // 1 // 06 // 212 // 15 // Sentio 0
03. // 7 // 0 // 07 // 191 // 15 // Gagsy +1
03. // 4 // 0 // 04 // 188 // 13 // ChrisLovejoy 0
05. // 5 // 1 // 07 // 188 // 12 // HeartbreakHoldout 0
06. // 0 // 0 // 00 // 170 // 13 // Ejit 0
07. // 6 // 0 // 06 // 162 // 10 // Dream-of-Duke 0
08. // 0 // 0 // 00 // 124 // 13 // Ledgey 0
09. // 0 // 0 // 00 // 116 // 10 // CharltonChinchilla 0
10. // 0 // 0 // 00 // 092 // 09 // Jonny 0
11. // 0 // 0 // 00 // 027 // 15 // tyler2513 0

Weekly Highest Score: 7 (Gagsy, HeartbreakHoldout)
Highest Score all time: 15 (Sentio - Week 12, Gagsy & tyler2513 - Week 14)
Weekly average score: 5.83...
Weekly average highest all time: 9.0 (week 10)

So we're at the halfway point of this long week of football, but the long season of football will soon be drawing to a close. So where will we all stand when the curtain falls? I think it would take something impressive for anyone to knock DannyIsOnFire from top spot and, equally, I think Sentio is safe in second.

The interesting battle, right now, is that for third place. A few competitive weeks from me puts me firmly in the race for third, along with Gagsy and ChrisLovejoy. It seems likely that Dream-of-Duke will overtake Ejit to get 6th, but I don't see anything more than that on the horizon.

maybe that's a good thing i guess. can't have too much football.

And they said the title race was over! Sentio weighs in with a record equalling (and unbeatable!) score of 15, making up a lot of the ground between him and DannyIsOnFire. If Sentio has managed to find his early season form again, then we could well be seeing him at the top come May 13th. I think it shows why they call this the most unpredictable prediction league in the world!

I am currently in pole position in the race for 3rd place, after another solid week for me, with 11 points, though I was helped by less than stellar performances from Gagsy and ChrisLovejoy, who scored 7 and 2 respectively.

And to think I had totally given up any hope of top spot, and indeed having made so many predictions last week had completely forgotten what I had gone for and had no idea it was such a good week! A shame that a couple of the other scores were just a goal away from being perfect as well...

One more good week like that and it is game on... (I feel more than a little affinity with Man City right now...)

It looks like it's going to be an exciting end to the season! It seems the only safe bets each week are that Wolves will lose and Newcastle will win...

Does anyone think that Man City will actually pull it off? It seems to me that Balotelli became the scapegoat for all of their problems with that last sending off, which I thought was unjustified, but maybe if the rest of the City team think somebody else is the problem they might be more confident.

And dear god there are more games to predict! Thankfully this is a relatively short week (But bonus points if you can guess the winner of the Grand National).

Sunderland 3 v 0 Wolves
Swansea 2 v 1 Blackburn
West Brom 1 v 1 QPR

Can I stress how much I hate Chelsea once again. And I hate my brothers as they will be at Wembley tomorrow watching the game. Though I do see us losing.

Norwich 0 v 2 Man City
Sunderland 2 v 0 Wolves
Swansea 1 v 1 Blackburn
West Brom 1 v 2 QPR
Man Utd 1 v 0 Aston Villa
Arsenal 2 v 1 Wigan

Grand National: Cappa Bleu

Some surprisingly tough ones there, as the bottom sides are getting a lot of weird results at the moment (except for Wolves).

Also I've got Rare Bob and Weird Al in the family sweep stake in the national (we pick one favourite and one no hoper, or two middle ground bets as above).

Also Spurs and Liverpool in the Cup.
