Last season it was ok, because they should've done better. It was hard to feel sorry for them. This is horrible because it's almost inevitable. There's nothing they could've done to prevent this.

The only trophy that Arsenal will ever win is the Championship (second division) trophy. Since they are not going to get relegated on the football field, it is hard to imagine that they will win any title any time soon.

Yeah, pretty sure I was just laughing for those 2 weeks from the carling cup final to their crash for the title. Of course Chelsea didn't fair much better but like you said they should have done better. This is just, wow 8-2 since I started typing this up. Incredible.

Ashley Young was good and such hes put on a Man U he is like a completely different player. Much better than I ever recall him.

As a Southerner I'm too aware of how the city of Manchester is crushing London atm. Not good.

Shitting myself as a Chelsea fan tbh.

Wenger needs to resign as soon as possible, he has lost the plot.

Anyone else listen to the 5 live commentary? I think the BBC might finally have realised that Arsenal are dreadful, after trying so hard to defend their defeat to Liverpool last week. As has been said, today's result was inevitable. I only wish I had put money on Wenger as first manager out of the door at the start of the season- his odds must be plummeting now!

Also loved the chat about how they are going to squeeze all of that into 10 minutes on Match of the Day 2- they may have to speed up the footage!

Arsenal need 7 or 8 new players to compete in the next few days, Man United and Man City look a class above everyone else in the league this season. Ferguson is clearly magical- he has turned a bunch of average players into world beaters in just one Summer. Young is a whole different player, as is Nani, Cleverly, Welbeck, Jones, Smalling...

I think it would be a massive mistake to fire him, but if he doesn't strengthen the squad significantly before the transfer window closes, then I think he'll be done, and so will Arsenal.

To the Benny Hill theme?

I'm going to be fucking honest here. Soccer, which you eurotrash illogically call "football," is pure fucking GARBAGE. Not only does soccer require ZERO skill or athleticism, but it is so fucking BORING to watch. It's 90 fucking minutes of a ball being kicked back and forth across the field like a broken pinball machine, with a few isolated goals sprinkled in between.

Oh, and did I mention the fucking diving? Soccer is one of the LEAST physical sports out there... no physical contact allowed. Yet the players try to fake injuries to get calls every fucking minute of the game. The players don't even try to hide their flopping either. It's fucking blatant. If someone slides into a player's thigh, he'll fucking grab his ankle. Then he'll proceed to writhe around on the floor "in pain" right until the referee calls the foul.

Then, MAGICALLY, the player is all better and stands up again to keep playing. I won't even get into the fact that soccer is a children's sport.

Seriously. Fuck soccer, and fuck anyone who likes it.

Rofl, Wenger blamed the Udinese game in the midweek for his team's sorry performance yesterday.
If that was the best excuse he could find after an 8-2 defeat, I'd say that his days at Arsenal are numbered.

NGFC Prediction League: Week 1 Results

Welcome to the first prediction league table of the season! 6 people took part this week, and it would be great to see more remember for the next set of fixtures in a couple of weeks.

Also a quick reminder- please ignore all attempts at trolling in this club, no matter how pathetic. While nobody has responded too vigorously, the best solution is to not reply at all. Any further trolling incidents will be directed to a forum mod to deal with.

1 point awarded for guessing a correct result (home win, draw etc), a further 2 points awarded for a perfect score (funny, I didn't see many 8-2 predictions this week...)

Rank // Correct Results // Perfect Scores // Weekly points // Overall points // Name

1. // 6 // 2 // 10 // 10 // Sentio
2. // 6 // 1 // 08 // 08 // Gagsy
2. // 6 // 1 // 08 // 08 // HeartbreakHoldout
4. // 4 // 0 // 04 // 04 // Ledgey
5. // 2 // 0 // 02 // 02 // Ejit
6. // 1 // 0 // 01 // 01 // Tummbumm

Weekly Highest Score: Sentio (10)
Highest Score all time: Sentio (10)
Weekly average score: 5.5

This is very much a work in progress- and until I hit post I'm not sure exactly what it will look like thanks to the formatting... any suggestions for improvements/additions are welcome. Apologies for any mistakes I may have made- this has been done completely by hand (and has taken some time), so mistakes are more than possible. I imagine I'll be able to include more average data in future if requested, but there is not much point after one week.

Well who's fault was that! :P You had more than a week's notice that I would be turning this into a regular table. The good news is the season is long and you can catch up a huge amount very quickly with a good week of predictions.

My personal aim for the season is to get a higher average than Lawro on the BBC predictions. Off to a good start!

Arsenal finally spending some cash, a few players coming in, never heard of em but some pundits on the telly highly rate em a German midfielder on his way and a Korean striker in.
