Incidentally, can anyone tell me what "world class" means because I've been hearing it for years and still have no clue.

I've always taken it to mean that the player in question would get into a world XI (or a 'worldclass' goal would get into a top 10 goals of the year list or something). Which immediately writes off 99% of the people who have been branded by the words 'World Class'. Definitely overused.

Looking forward to this friendly too though- Brazil can still draw a crowd despite not being the world beaters they once were.

I grew up in Kensington, which is a part of the London metro area...a little to the west of the City of London. Never really been a football/soccer fan until I moved to the States. In fact, my first ever football match I saw was back in 7th grade when I went back to England for a Chelsea-ManUntd game, lol.

Weekly average score: 5.14

This week sees a rare misstep for Danny, and on a week when everybody else has performed reasonably well. DoD gets the highest score of the week, which allows to gain 5 points back on Danny at the top. Everybody else is separated by too much for there to be any movement, except Tyler, who could easily jump 3 places(!) with a decent set of predictions next week.

Got to win first- I remember you having a lead late last season too... and don't forget we didn't kick the predictions off until a few weeks into last season :P. 250+ would be an impressive total over a season I reckon.

I've checked my records, and after a 36 week season last year, Sentio scored 269, which I work out to be equivalent to around 284 in a full length season. So I think you need to start going some to smash that record!

We finally have some real movement in the table! Tyler leaps all the way from 10th to 7th, and misses out on the best score of the week by only 1 point. Sentio is the best this week, with a score of 11, and he and DoD have cut down Danny's lead after a below average week for him. He doesn't have the worst score of the week, though, because that honour is reserved for me!

Don't forget that Liverpool and Swansea play this weekend rather than next, if you haven't predicted that one yet. Personally I think that Swansea will be on the receiving end of a 5-0 thrashing!

Are you kidding me, Swansea?
So they decided to field their reserve team just because they had a cup final EIGHT DAYS later? That is just stupid, not to mention that their opposition in the cup is Bradford. Yes, it is fooking Bradford we are talking about, the last time I checked, they were still in the LEAGUE TWO.
The Swans deserve to get a massive points deduction for resting their star players for a game that won't be played until the 25nd February against a LEAGUE TWO team.

A very strange decision given the number of days until the final. Had it only been three or four I would have understood it- that match is arguably the biggest in Swansea's history, but with so long to recover it did seem too cautious. Crap for the fans at the Liverpool game, though I suspect all will be forgiven should they win the final. They will go in heavy favourites, but it would be foolish to underestimate Bradford as you clearly do. They have knocked out three Premier League sides after all, and are capable of upping their game for these big matches.

The Swans deserve to get a massive points deduction for resting their star players for a game that won't be played until the 25nd February against a LEAGUE TWO team.

I highly doubt a points deduction will happen (in fact I'd say it is impossible), though they may well be fined. It comes down to whether the team they put out was with the intention of throwing the game and had no chance of winning. As it was it may not have been their supposed first team, but the players were still perfectly competent professionals who should have been able to do better. After all United/Chelsea etc. rest players all the time, but their reserves are internationals so it makes little difference. There is no reason Swansea shouldn't be allowed the same luxury ahead of a big game.

Yeah, good idea. In fact, every team should get punished, if they don't put on their "best" players. Only problem is: Who is to decide, wether a team put their best players on the field? "Oh hey, the last ten games John Doe was in the starting lineup and now he's replaced by John Q. Public? That's 10 points less for you this season!"

Anyway, good match between Arsenal and Bayern yesterday. Even though I simply cannot understand why Bayern ALWAYS concedes at least one goal this champion's league season. Arsenals goal is pissing me off, really. First of all, it didn't even was a corner kick. Podolski was the last player to touch the ball. Tell me again: What are those "goal line referees" doing exactly?
But the worst part is: They defended the corner really poorly. Even an amateur team would defend better than that. >:(

Anyone else feel like the Champions League has reverted back to how it was in the dark days of the 90s? (Dark from a British perspective at least).

English sides are as uncompetitive as I can remember since the 90s when only Man United ever showed any intent in the competition. This season once again only United look any good, and not good enough to go any further I fear. The rest have looked well short of the required standard throughout.

Meanwhile some of the giants of the 90s have come back to form, in some cases for the first time in many years. Bayern look a massive threat in the competition again, as they did every season in the 90s, and Juve are back in the big time as well. PSG also looking good after a long spell away, as are Dortmund, who were class in the late 90s. Meanwhile some big sides have never gone away, like Madrid and Barce.

All we need now is Dynamo Kiev and Ajax, and it really will feel like it did back then.

As for Arsenal, I suspect that was the last home game for them in the Champions League for some time. They will do well to finish top 4 this season, or in the foreseeable future. Midtable beckons as has happened to Liverpool in recent years.

I guess Milan surprised everyone today by beating Barcelona. I was pretty tired of Barcelona, everyone sucking it's balls and shit, but they still have the home game to beat Milan, but I think they won't manage to beat them, I'm guessing it's going to be the same as Chelsea last year.

Also, it would be extremelly ironic if Milan won the CL this year after Ibrahimovic left the team last year..

Yes, it will be very difficult for them to come back. Even a 2:0 win at Munich won't help them. Also, Bayern has scored a goal in about every match this season, while the most they conceded was 3 against BATE in the group stage...

As for the EL: Stuttgart managed to win against Genk, but Moenchengladbach was just disappointing. Hannover is still at 0:0, which isn't too promising either. Leverkusen is also at 0:0, but they are only one goal down from the first leg, so everything is possible.

At least the English sides are doing better in that competition! Chelsea and Spurs should be looking at winning it really, they are definitely amongst the strongest sides in the competition.

Back to predictions!

Fulham 3-1 Stoke
Arsenal 3-0 Villa (banker of the week!)
Norwich 0-1 Everton
QPR 0-2 Man Utd
Reading 2-1 Wigan
West Brom 1-1 Sunderland
Man City 2-1 Chelsea
Newcastle 2-1 Southampton
West Ham 1-1 Spurs

In general I've penalised sides that played in Europe midweek. Chelsea, Newcastle and Spurs will all be tired and may well see upsets. Newcastle especially have had a long week and play an in form Southampton. I actually feel a shock is on the cards at QPR as well, as they tend to be hard to break down at home, but United are the kings at finding a way to win.
