so if you are gonna lose a fight (because you are ganged up on) is it reasonable to bring out a trick i.e. a 8 pound wrench or knife?

I'd say that would make them get out their own guns and blow you up into little pieces. If you want advice, either run/simply make a roar that will make them stop temporarily with "WTF?" faces, then run/climb a tree for safety/yell "No one beats me up like I do", and proceed to punch your own face till it bleeds/start kicking them in the balls as fast you can.
