Hi there!
lol
Nice, looking forward to that.

that just sums it up ^^
Hydra looks scary but cool. Much like my first impressions of AS3.
Btw, went searching in adobe labs, this is the program for Hydra things.
Nice find.
I'm liking the 3D and the custom filter thing. I think one of the first things I'll do with the custom filters is make a bump map/normal map filter and make an underwater filter.
OH MY GAWD
finally, 3d in flash with OpenGL rendering.
but i don't like the way that Adobe is going to with its new scripting languages.

Nice find. Looks pretty intresting. 3d in flash seems cool
Awesome, especially those improved Bitmap Filter Effects :o..
Checking that Hydra stuff out now :)!
Thanks for sharing, I'm actually kinda excited about this, huge leap =D

Not at all, vector models and bytecode take up hardly anything compared to music and bitmaps.
will it have a completly new/different/better coding system? cuz im deff gonna learn it good and make fully 3d FPS's!
A basic strict scripting language as you can see, Hydra. It's meant for simple but intensive tasks like bitmap processing.
its gonna be awsome, 3d platformers with sweet grafix, fully 3d first person shooters...
Surfing is better.

Word. I don't want to have to keep learning all new code, I suck with AS2 as it is.
AS: Main
Don't read this sentence.
Hopefully it won't be as buggy or huge as Flash CS3....

Not that I know much about this kind of thing, but I would imagine that 3D models could be represented fairly compactly, especially compared to vector drawings with one less dimension, large sounds and big, pixel based images. Especially given the more achievable standards of work on NG.
Besides, file sizes will probably scale up nicely with peoples' connection speeds and against bandwidth costs as time progresses.

The update is coming to the Flash Player, not the IDE. I expect that Flash Player 10 will be released long before Flash CS4 or whatever Adobe has planned comes out. I am fairly excited about these features. It has been a good couple of months for the Flash Player, especially with this and the features that are in the beta releases: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flash player9/
Looks like some interesting and pretty radical new features. I wonder whether this means that the traditional 2D look of Flash will shift towards more 3D orientated graphics...
I'm a bit confused by the whole 3D thing. Its 2D objects manipulated in a 3D space, right? Or am I missing something.
i like the text based additions, i wish they would have talked about all the bugs that will be packaged with flash 10. the amount of extra useless filters is quite mouthwatering.
The z axis could be useful.

Well, CS3 isn't all that great. I think that Flash was way better when Macromedia owned it. Flash CS3 is the end of the golden age of Flash. CS3 is large(1gb), slow(it takes 10 minutes to load on my 7 year old computer), and way too CPU-intensive. Flash 8 has a nice, clean interface, but CS3 is crowded with all sorts of docks and that "sleek" look distracts from animating. AS3 isn't as great as it was hyped to be. Flash CS3 costs $700 dollars, and takes forever to download. I'm staying with Flash 8 forever.

That scares me,I would stop Flash...I mean,I like Flash mainly because of THAT! Anyway,it can be a hoax.
To clarify, this is not an update to Flash the development tool. It is an update to the Flash Player, which is the client runtime in which .swf files are executed. True, it will mean expanded capabilities in development, but it is not in the developer application itself.

What're talking about?

nah i think u got it right. Astro looks frieken cool man. i cant wait now >:(. the filters and the z axis look like they're gonna be fun to use.
Jesus tap-dancing Christ. That looks. BEAUTIFUL.
aquaticmole.
I knew they would go 3D at some point.
It's exciting, but why are there now 3 different languages? Shouldn't there a way to take care of filters and 3D stuff in one language?
I better learn AS3 pretty soon
New reason for life.
literally... now i wont have to learn c++ :3
=3
This is pretty awesome, with 3D and all.

the 3D stuff is just actionscript, it's still all actionscript 3, they're just adding new features like when they added bitmapdata to flash 8.
For the pixel shaders, it makes sense that it's a different language. Pixel shaders involve communicating with the graphics card, which simply cannot be done efficiently with a scripting language, so adobe made a much lower level language for the pixel shaders.
Also, adobe said NOTHING about openGL for the 3D stuff. Personally I believe it's just a new transformation property for movieclips based on their presentation and code samples, however they might add some sort of a Z buffer (I hope). As was the bitmap stuff in flash 8 and the sound spectrum in flash 9, don't expect too much out of the 3D until flash 11 at least.
FINALLY A Z AXIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This will make gaming so much better now.
That's awesome, can't wait until it comes out!
