Okay, I'm an eighth grader in a tenth grade math class (yeah, I'm a nerd), and a few days ago I wrote the longest equation I've ever written. I know you guys are dieing to see it by now.
I had to find the surface area of a cylindrical house with a cone roof by knowing just the floor's base and the hight of the cone and cylinder.
49+((sr(49/pi))*2*pi*3)+((1/3)*(sr(49/pi ))*2*pi*1.7)
sr=square root

That's the easy stuff.
However, if you understand the basics of Algebra and Geometry you can pretty much handle anything in Calculus or Trigonometry. The problem is, a lot of schools screw kids out of learning the basics by moving them along too fast.
If someone had trouble in Algebra and never received proper help, they'll be entirely screwed when it comes time for anything in late High School and all of College. Of course, they just need to work harder, but that may just discourage them to keep trying.
Sense is made.

That's definately not tenth grade math.
That's geometry. Which is what most eigth graders take.
You're either a liar, or you've got some dumb tenth graders at your school.

For my homework tonight I had to do (but didn't, because I don't do homework) about thirty of these exponent problems.

Well the class is called Algeo II (Algebra + Geometry) and we're just doing surface area and volume at the moment. Before this we were doing Trigonometry and

It obviously means that they're segregating negative and positive exponents. The racists won't let Negs in the denominator, don't you know....

thats nothing, i learned that in 8th grade too, its 10th grade math as in only dumb or lazyasses take the class in 10th grade.
I learned delta epsilon stuff in the 10th grade last year. The solving is ALOT longer than any of your puny calculator equations.
For example, have an equation like:
Prove that the in the limit as X approaches two, (3x-1) = 5
solution (yes writing in math):
For all epsilon greater than zero, there exists [S] <-(actually a greek symbol similar to S) such that if 0 less than the absolute value of (x-2) is less than [s], then the absolute value of (3x-1)-5 is less than epsilon...
Im not gonna solve out the whole thing cuz it ends up being a lot of work where you must improvise equations to finally get [S] and stuff, it takes up half a page on paper and ends with you writing:
therfore the statement of the limit as X approaches two, (3x-1) = 5, is true.
