What do you think the most amazing guitar solo is?
I vote either the one in Stairway To Heaven, or Child In Time ( Deep Purple)

Fuck all you teeny boppers.
I'm pretty sure Paganini's Fifth Caprice is the greatest solo ever writen, since the begining of time.
Straight up, fuck Stairway to Heaven.
Anybody who knows anything about music knows what I'm talking about.
The original, Paganini's version was actually done of the violin... But Steve Vai played it on guitar in the movie crossroads.
This solo will straight up blow your fucking mind.
He was doing what Eddie Van Halen is doing now, only hundreds of fucking years before him.

The only thing is, HE didnt play it on guitar. so its not as impressive he just wrote a piece that is only moderately difficult to play on violin and Steve Vai just decided to play it on guitar. And as for how good the solo was as played on the guitar, it sounded pretty good, but Comfortably Numb and Eruption could beat the shit out of it.

Beat It - Michael Jackson has to be up there. Its played by Eddie Van Halen. Also, Metal Dog by Paul gilbert, not so much the solo as the whole thing is pretty much a solo, kinda like eruption except heavier and better.

I'm pretty sure I don't give a fuck what you have to say.
Eruption is overrated to the point of sheer recklessness, even as far as Eddie Van Halen goes.
Yeah, it sounds impressive, but I was playing that shit after only a years experience on the guitar... It's not that difficult, or ground breaking at all.
People were just blown away by it at the time because people are straight up arrogent when it comes to music.

Ok first off, Eruption was written by Eddie after he had 20 years of guitar experience. Next time you wanna argue, be sure you know what the fuck youre talkin about. And if youre calling people in that time arrogant in terms of music because they liked to party, well think about this, in the time Paganini's Fifth Caprice was written, what the performers did back then was considered fucking WILD, even though it seems like nothing in this time. And if you mean just arrogant about what music they listened to, i find that its arrogant that you would get so worked up over a song that was written 200 or so years ago. and if you really dont care what i think, why would you humor me with a response?

I'm pretty sure I still don't give a flying fuck.
I didn't read anything you just wrote.
I don't even need to.
You're 13.
You think you know everything about music.
I know, I was there too, until I actually started hanging around people who actually knew their shit.
You can just keep jacking off to Eddie Van Halen, and all your other classic rock bands that you think are the pinnacle of the universe, and come back and have a conversation with me when you know half as much as you think you do.
Good day, sir.

If you didnt read it, how would you know how crazy i am about Van Halen? i only mentioned Eruption once in the post before my last one, and that wouldnt lead you to believe that i liked them that much.
You're 13.
Yes, Yes I am
You think you know everything about music.
I know, I was there too, until I actually started hanging around people who actually knew their shit.
Sure go with the excuse all thick headed older people go with, "Youre 13, you dont know shit about anything" Well i know im not ready for sex, i know i know nothing about drugs, and i know i know nothing about life on my own. But one thing i do know about is music.
And what shit about music do you think i dont know?

I never said i only liked classic rock. I like modern rock, punk, and some rap and hip hop too. And im even into some music from the Romantic era (Beethoven for example) Im a complicated person when it comes to music.
and come back and have a conversation with me when you know half as much as you think you do.
Tell me what i dont know about music.
Good day, sir.
Good day to you too :D

I figured you'd keep defenfing him.
He's a decent guitar player.
But he's got way better shit then Eruption.
Fair Warning album, for example.
Yes, Yes I am
Indeed.

Oh, I was there.
I know my shit.
I would have said the same fuckin' thing back then.
But trust me, music goes so deep, it will blow your fucking mind.

Hahahahaha.
You probably know mainstream music inside and out.
I know a poser when I see one.
But much farther then that, you fail to have ventured.
Tell me what i dont know about music.
You know NOTHING about music... yet.
The fact that you said that tells me right away you're young and arrogent.
Trust me.

No idea. I like Nine Black Alps's Ironside because the solo is simple and effective, which is what it's all about really.

I can give you a huge ass list but what the hell.
Under a glass moon- Dream theater
You guys are such followers. You don't know any good solos so you just say anything by page, hendrix or slash. If you don't know, don't answer.

I was going to say ´I can´t believe no-one has mentioned Dream Theater yet´ untill i saw that. I don´t know if that´s their best one, but every DT song has a amazing solo. They´re just not known enough.
Stairway to heaven has a great solo but i wouldn´t call it the best. I do really like Sweet child of mine one aswell. Also the Solo in Hotel California was nice. Calmer than alot but still rockin!
Here are a couple of Dream Theater solo´s. This is the best fuckin band ever. If anyone really likes them check out the Club we have here on NG in the Clubs and crews forum (link in my sig)
lie - Solo
Dark Eternal Night - Whole song (solo is at 5.55 - 6.40)
Under a glass moon - Solo (pretty bad quality)
Constant Motion - Whole song (solo is at 3.09 - 3.49)
Metropolis - Whole song ( solo is at 5.04 - 5.45)

Have you seen live Live at Budokan or Score? There's no such thing as competition. Dream Theater is in the parallel universe where all good music lives. They'll never be played on shit music stations, they have too much will power for that.
I would have said instrumedly for the guitar solo but i figured it's not just one song, it's like five songs.
Lets go with some more John petrucci :D
This song will never get out of your head.
Neither will this one.

I think one of the best solos was the one in Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing.
That was SO obvious...

I like all the Buckethead songs to be honest, but Jordan is one of his speediest, 14.5 notes a second at it's fastest point. Soothsayer is awesome too though, one of his 'epic' songs. :D

Who cares? And if it's speed you want, you need to purchase both Cobra Strike's.
