I was wondering what software programs are good for extracting vocals from an existing mp3 or what other methods exist for obtaining vocals.
Some of the remixes by NG members I have listened to have done an outstanding job of obtaining/extracting vocals and I have never been able to figure out how they do it.
Thanks.

This same question gets asked time and time agein, it's getting annoying. To answer your question, there is no easy way to do it. Here are your options:
-Option 1, If the vocalist has a higher voice than the instramentals, you can use an equalizer to eliminate all the instramentals leaving you with just the vocals, or just find the frequency rang of the vocalist and take whatever instramentals are in that same range.
-Option 2, if you can find a karioki (think I speled that right) track with just the instramentals, you can invert the karioki track and combine them. by inverting the karioki trake you cancle out all the instramentals leaving you with just the vocals. You need to have a karioki track of the same quality though and from the same source.
-Option 3, Record your own vocals. A good vocalist can do this with a moniter (ie headphones), you just play the track on you moneter as well as the feed from the mic and match the pitch of the vocalist your trying to imatate, you need a moniter though and a good vocalist.
Those are options.
