A worker at a circuit board factory in Redwood City, Calif., was found dead in a waist-high vat of sulfuric acid over the weekend.

Even more disturbing, the man's body was discovered by his father.

If this hadn't been reported by respectable news agencies, it would have "urban myth" or "bad mafia movie" written all over it.

The news, however, was reported early Sunday by the San Mateo Daily Journal and later expanded by the San Jose Mercury News.

According to the Mercury News, Fernando Jimenez Gonzalez, 18, was working at the Coastal Circuits factory when he apparently passed out from fumes as he dipped circuit boards into a tank for acid copper plating.

When Gonzalez didn't return home from his shift, his father went to search for him. Gonzalez's body was discovered around 2 a.m. Sunday.

A company executive, interviewed by the Mercury News, declined to comment on why police believe Gonzalez wasn't wearing protective gear.

The plant is now closed, according to the Mercury News, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

Oh cellardoor6 I've noticed you've become quite a neutral person when it comes to the BBS, you used to have excellent arguments and held them well. Obviously people are crap at responding to you when their best comeback is "your gay" emphasizing the typo and the bad description then you would have 500 words that would detail how you were not gay (assuming you're not gay) and how the person cannot use proper spelling and grammar was beyond epic. They were great times, however I also like your chilled attitude and even funny attitude. Keep both your methods and make this forum great.

I suppose that with the possible blood loss that caused by the snag, he lost over 15% of his body fluids which killed him. If he unsnagged himself it may of caused a bigger wound but still he could of stopped the blood loss by putting pressure on it.

Still it must of been a big cut to kill him or his family were out too long.

I disagree, people can last 3 days without water, so unless you have a news source explaining how long his family were away from the house you cannot say not drinking water killed him. You would not feel great not drinking anything for 12 hours but you would survive. I would think blood loss killed him and he might of got an infection from the wound that sped up the dehydration thus killing him.

I have never had an argument with you about politics only a story I made which you disapproved of. I'm not a great mind on politics as I tend not to watch or read political news because quite honestly it does not affect me as much as other people. I am happy with my prime minister, it's policies and how it runs the country. I am a great admirer of you, someone who is stubborn and loyal to his views and will never give up the fight. As you asked that we should not derailed the initial topic, I feel that sulphuric acid is possible the worst way to die, being burnt to death is real pain which stays with you the rest of your life if you survive. Acid is like fire ten times worse and burn quicker, takes off your skin. I'm not too sure how it would feel to be burnt by acid, I'm still in science fiction mode and wonder how they found the man's body when I thought sulphuric acid completely vaporises your body including the skeleton leaving nothing.

I've been looking for a link for the last several minutes and I can't find one. But it's a story that is years old.

I don't know if the guy lived by himself or if his family was gone for an extended period, but he died from dehydration. The guy didn't show up for work for days, and the police initially went to his house and no one answered. A while later when someone came to fertilize his lawn, they smelled his rotting corpse. The police checked up on it, had an excuse to break into his house, and found him dead, with his wang in the couch, surrounded by porn. He fucked a hide-a-bed couch. They did an autopsy and the coroners concluded he died from dehydration, not blood loss or starvation or anything else.

It was an urban legend, but it was later validated when the police reports and coroner's reports were published along with some book of similarly odd and gruesome stories of death.

Sounds believable, I assumed when you said "horny kid" that the guy was 15 or something. It did seem quite unbelievably stupid that the person would not free himself to get water. It's either go through a short burst of pain or dying. Obviously he ended that situation the hard way. It's never nice rotting alone in a house with hundreds, even thousands of flies hovering over the decayed body.
