Madness: Deux Ex Machina was indeed, extremely insane. Peroxide did an awesome job, I'd love to know how exactly he does all those special effects and other eye candy, but I have the slightest bit of feeling it lies within him using Adobe After Effects in conjunction with Photoshop.

Congrats to everyone who won.

You know Tom, it's a damn shame that you don't have the madness shirts ready, those would've made for great prizes.

Congrats to the madness day winners, I only actually watched one of them, the preloadeded one, and it was pretty good.

I love it how you ended up giving away an extra $1,250.
They were all pretty good, and you could see a lot of effort put into a number of them. Nice that nearly all those animators walked away with something.

Yes, I agree. It was definitely one of the more entertaining pieces.

If I ever make something worthy of getting prize money for, I'll probably buy a laptop or something

aside from a few of the material possessions you occasionally think about having in your hands during the work week, in the end, a 250 prize isn't what's worth the most. I'd say the recognition and the acknowledgment that you busted your ass and worked hard on something is what truly satisfies (or SHOULD satisfy) newgrounds flash contributors at the end of the day.

anyone agree?

It IS after all madness day.

Yours was good, I liked it better than a few above yours, but you still won, so don't complain.

Some of these were pretty cool. It's kind of overwhelming to see all the neat tricks that people pulled out of their sleeves for this contest. The episode that won, "Madness: Deus Ex Machina..." I know I sound kind of petty for saying something negative about the winner, but the fighting and action in that one weren't very interesting... It was almost like watching someone playing a video game, --more so than the original Madness-- but man was it beautifully made. All the lighting and effects... Holy crap. It was cool how the characters looked all silvery. The artwork was amazing.

I personally think "Madness Manufactory" should've got first. All that 3D stuff at the end was great. Even the lighting effects were cool. Like I said, seeing all the special effects is pretty overwhelming. Kind of makes me want to save up my money and get a version of flash that's better than Flash 5.

But I did learn a few things just from dissecting the preloader... I wish I could dissect some of the submissions.

WHAT A MADNESS DAY!!

My opinion on the winners. I strongly had a hunch that it won't be reflected from audience voting. The audience are right in a way and they picked the stuff that they like most. But deciding winners isn't all aobut voting. I've seen a fair share of stuff that are good that sank to the bottom of the portal because of NG users who did not like/understand the concept or simply missed it. Anyways, I suspect the NG crew and Krinkels would pick winners based on other factors too, like how well a movie represents the original madness, audio usage, storyline... and maybe some other factors too, and well well was I right. Deus got first, Manufactory got second, you can not kill hank got third... (isn't it spelled as "cannot", not "can not"?)

But

Almost half of the Madness Day 2007 submissions were decent and made me laugh, even some crappy ones, like the one with a Gary Brolsma in it, so Madness Day rox!
