Moral Dilemma Here 2007-09-23 00:11:19 Reply

Here's the situation: I am taking a World History class that a friend of mine took last semester. He had the professor I got (who loves to lecture, and give out many many quizzes and tests off his lectures and our textbook). So my friend gave me his notebook which was full of notes and whatnot. I looked through all the stuff and found all the tests they took with the answers on them. I thought they'd be a good study tool (while secretly hoping he didn't change tests) and looked over them thoroughly before going in and taking the tests. Just so happens that the professor doesn't change the tests and although he added 30 more questions to the test, I still aced it no problem. This was mainly because I had looked over the tests my friend took.

Guidance on how to proceed. I understand this is cheating, since I am basically looking at the test beforehand, but I can almost guarantee a great grade, so long as I don't get caught.

Newgrounds, I know you guys aren't the best moral judges, but you all have experience, and I'm just a young college idiot. Please help.

if the class is easy and u feel wrong about doing it then just dont do it, but if the class is tedious and practically a waste of time then do it

And if I got caught, I'm sure this explanation would go well. I don't know why I am having such a problem with this cheating, I have never had the problem before. I gladly looked over at other people's tests and got questions from people who had the same class as me before. But this just feels different, it's not the same as copying another kid's project, I feel that it is different.

More feedback is needed before I make a decision on how to proceed.

Good question, as long as nobody knew (which I wouldn't tell anyone), there is no real way, unless he pop quizzed us and I failed miserably. Dunno, I actually do plan on learning the material though, just using the tests for "study tools"

If you're studying the tests, it's no different from getting the info. from class.

I second that, it's the teachers fault if he didn't change the tests, its not like ur using them during the test. I use tests from previous years every now and then, they're the best form of revision.

Yes, I did sign up to post this, but I've been lurking for some time now. I didn't just come to NG and sign up today. I've been around here for far too long actually, just never bothered to sign up becuase i didn't feel a need to.
