It's ancient. I love the Exit Mundi scenario where having achieved immortality and then advancing so much, we kill ourselves. Eternity is dull and as long as you are human, that is something you don't want. Nor would you want that as a spirit, hence why I am rather uneasy with religion.

Bad idea. Once we're overpopulated, then what the hell do we do? Grab the shotgun and have fun?

No, Bioshock shows the result of what happens when you play God. Humans shouldn't live forever.

Nice idea, BUT

Problem number 1: You can still die of other things.

Problem 2: Do you want People like George Bush around for that long?

Problem 3: Overpopulation, unless we agreed to have one in ten couples were allowed 2 babies.

Problem 4: look at problem 3, NO ****ing Sex!

Problem 5: Their will be risks/ consequences.

Problem 6: Won't that mean we will work for another 980 years?

Problem 7: These will not be cheap.

Problem 8: Thier will be huge amounts of "scandels" and other Media shit.

Problem 9: The Emo/Goths will go on about it for 1000 years.

It could be a good idea but these 9 problems show it will be trickey.

Stuff like this depresses me greatly. Humans are not meant to be immortal. And, as much as I would like to say "Bow down to me, mortals!", it is not meant to happen. Do not expect to see me immortal in 25 years.

No.

I see your point, but it doesn't work that way. Mass starvation would occur, but it never returns to equilibrium. If that were the case, it would have happened already. We're already in a state of overpopulation, and mass starvation is already taking place, but the starvation doesn't put the population right back down where it should be. Starvation (and lack of resources in general) keeps the population at a certain limit, but that limit is not an ideal level. There would still be constant starvation.

Even if the whole world were to become like Africa, there would need to be a massive and sudden decrease in population -- far more rapid than starvation is capable of -- would be needed to put the population at an equilibrium, and even then, it wouldn't last long. People would keep having sex.

In 25 years, we will also have sexbots to get blow our loads off in, so real intercourse will be obsolete. And if people want to raise a baby, Nintendo will make Nintentots or some shit. Hell, while theyre at it, just figure out how to put human brains and nervous systems into Cyborg things.

The human race doesn't even have 200 years left to exist, unless some serious changes are made. There are numerous things that will lead to humans killing themselves, and even more things that could happen naturally. Don't qoute me on this as im not entirely sure, but isn't Yellow Stone National Park a volcano, and when it erupts, it will effect things over a 700 mile radius (The number correct, but I'm not sure of the volcano.)? Then you got alien attacks, and stuff like that.

And asteriod 1950 DA is gonna hit Earth in 2880, March 18. That's less than one thousand years, and I'm sure people wont be able to destroy it because they would have crippled themselves. I know I only listed 2, but there are thousands of things that will be the end of humans because of lack of cooperation, and a sence of higher-being and separation in most of you, when compaired to others. So forget it.

The only people I'm guessing that would want to live forever are the 14< kids here who are out of touch with reality. Do you reallyt think the government would let you live that long without giving you some sort of penalty? Besides, living longer than you are supposed to is a threat to humans in itself.

soo the next generation could be the last. intresting consept.

my thought is that this would be great.

after 2030 all babys will be made sterile and use the process to make them live forever. then there would always be 7 ish billion people in the world. For every person that goes crazy and kills them selves they could just have a baby factory from all the sperm and eggs collected from the sterilized babies..

HOLY FUCK THAT IS SCARY! gives me chills...

This is happening. Population can and will be controled. You dont have to kill to prevent population problems. Also, the rich will get this in the beginning sure, but thats fine, let them be the guinea pigs in the initial stages.

The prices will come down. The public will demand it and goverments and the like will regulate it. For example, it will be impossible to be elected unless you support helping get indefinite health rejuvination therapies to the people.

Aubrey deGrey, one of the worlds leading authorities on this is going to be interviewed tomorrow here: imminst.org/tv

If you go there, then chat about it here, not there. Its at 5pm cst time, sunday. Aubrey has been on shows like Colbert, Barbara Walters, 60 minutes, etc.. The cause is picking up. This is happening.
