Lovely bunch of cubes

All I really do around here is post comments, so I figured it was about time that I actually post some art and open myself up to C&C.
I did this entirely in flash with no references; took me about 1.5 hours.

That's pretty cool, but I don't like the black vines coming from the center. Still a nice touch to it!

im guessing the black things are the background. you should do something about that to make it seem like a bg, cuz it looks like lines as someone pointed out.
boxes look great though.

The "vines" are actually unintentional -- they only appear because of the small amount of negative space in between each cube. I guess I could get rid of them if I completely redid everything and changed the perspective slightly, but that would involve making a whole new image, and besides I kinda like them anyway :P

No, it's cool, you actually did get me thinking and I tried a couple of things out that looked pretty cool. Someone in another forum suggested that I invert it and that was one of the things that I tried; it didn't change the vine thing but it still looks cool:

Oh and can you try a black schemed version by using the bucket tool? Or you have multiple colors in the cubes?

You should add a bit of white resonance to the cubes. Sort of like the light reflecting off of the white and hitting the cubes as explained in the pic below that comes from this tutorial that dile recommended. That might fix the vine-y look and make it look more like a background.
